The Head of Quality and Risk holds lead responsibility for developing and implementing quality and risk management arrangements, which include compliance, accreditation, and promoting a culture of learning and continuous quality improvement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management system across all organisational levels.
2. Implement and oversee a risk management registration system and continuously improve the system to enhance the safety and quality of services by identifying risks and determining actions to prevent and control them.
3. Coordinate the risk management system at both individual service and corporate levels.
4. Design and implement audit programs to maximise the utility of results for management.
5. Provide policy guidance in key governance areas, and design and develop online reporting and management tools for incidents, complaints, and safeguarding.
6. Implement systematic monitoring and learning processes from clinical, safety, and safeguarding incidents at local, regional, and national levels.
7. Develop escalation policies and processes for quality and risk management.
8. Manage the serious incident reporting and management process.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities:
1. Develop structures and processes to ensure high-quality, safe services at Odyssey Social Care.
2. Support the organisation in preparation for registration and inspection, and aid in developing improvement plans to achieve compliance in quality and safety areas.
3. Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality & Risk.
4. Assist in developing Odyssey Social Care as an internationally recognised provider of children’s residential services.
Management Responsibilities:
1. Support the Chief Executive Officer in managing and governing Odyssey Social Care.
2. Ensure the provision of safe, high-quality services.
3. Report to the CEO and Senior Management Team on patterns of incidents, complaints, accidents, and near misses, providing information for necessary management actions and assurances.
4. Investigate or oversee investigations of concerns or complaints as required.
5. Provide or commission training relevant to core responsibilities, and produce reports as required by the CEO.
6. Maintain links with academic institutions and relevant organisations to stay current on practice knowledge and research.
7. Conduct evaluations and prepare reports demonstrating learning and positive outcomes, while promoting continuous learning and development.
8. Provide line management and supervision as directed by the CEO, mentor staff on implementing policies and procedures, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
9. Uphold continuous professional development, respond flexibly to company challenges, and comply with the company’s mission, values, and principles.
10. Act in an anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory manner, and always promote the welfare of service users.
11. Travel as required to perform duties, and undertake other tasks as directed by the CEO.
Qualifications:
A relevant third-level qualification and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies, standards, and best practices in social care. Ability to organise and delegate work, and experience with information systems in service management. Proficient IT skills, competence in audit processes, and the ability to train and develop staff while fostering a culture of learning. Capable of developing departmental procedures and policies, and working collaboratively. Strong oral and written communication skills. A full clean driving license is required.
