The person: We are seeking a senior leader who comes from the food/drink industry, who will lead the growth of the Ballymaloe Brand. You will be a Commercial Manager who is leading a sales team selling into the foodservice and retail channels. You will have strong commercial skills while displaying leadership to mentor and develop the sales team. Ideally, you will have experience working within a family business setting and must display a keen interest in good food.
Job Description
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for driving the company’s commercial strategy, overseeing sales and ensuring the achievement of revenue and profitability targets. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in FMCG, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in commercial management. Candidates will have track records in both the Retail & Foodservice industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Strategy Development:
* Develops and implements the commercial strategy to drive business growth and market share.
* Identifies new market, new product opportunities and business expansion areas.
* Monitors market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
Sales Management:
* Leads and manages the sales team to achieve sales targets and objectives.
* Develops and maintains strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and retail partners.
* Oversees the development of sales plans, budgets, and forecasts.
* Works with the sales team to establish, maintain, and grow strong relationships with customers and key influencers in the industry.
* Works with key stakeholders to keep them informed of all activities challenges and changes internally and externally.
* Responsible for being the expert of commercial sales within Ballymaloe.
Marketing and Brand Management:
* Works with the marketing team to develop marketing strategies based on market research and competitor analysis.
* Ensures brand consistency and alignment with the company's vision and values.
* Analyses market research and consumer insights to drive brand strategy and innovation.
Financial Management:
* Prepares and manages the commercial budget, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
* Monitors financial performance and provides regular reports to the executive team.
* Identifies and mitigates financial risks associated with commercial activities.
* Works with the Finance Manager and Management Team to maintain a pricing strategy, ensuring at all times that the Company is competitive with the balance of winning new business and not losing any business.
Leadership and Team Development:
* Provides strong leadership and direction to the commercial team.
* Promotes a culture of best in class added value account management for our customers.
* Fosters a high-performance culture and promotes continuous learning and development.
* Mentors and coaches team members to enhance their skills and career growth.
* Continually ensures the Route To Market for Ballymaloe products is efficient and well managed, that supply partners are respectfully challenged on service levels, costs and overall performance.
Stakeholder Management:
* Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Represents the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
* Negotiates and manages contracts with key partners and suppliers.
The Successful Applicant
* You will be a Commercial Manager who is leading a national sales team selling into the foodservice and retail channels.
* Candidates need to come from the food/drink industries; we would be interested ideally with branded experience.
* Strong commercial skills, P&L responsible.
* Leadership experience of growing sales teams.
* Experience working within a family business desirable.
* Have a keen interest in Food.
