This Role Makes a Difference at Abbott
As a Cost Accountant, you will oversee various accounting activities to ensure financial resources are managed in accordance with accounting principles and comply with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards.
Responsibilities:
* Set standard costs for products, including long-range planning (3-5 years) and presentation to Senior Management.
* Ensure month-end reporting is carried out efficiently and in line with agreed timetables.
* Support the Controller in preparing Plans/LBEs, including Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet analysis for Senior Management.
* Provide business analyst support to manufacturing departments to achieve goals and reduce costs.
* Develop standard work processes, visual management boards, and lean processes within finance.
* Carry out assignments/projects as directed by the Controller.
* Manage fixed assets, including tracking, reporting, physical inventory, and control.
* Develop a schedule for internal audits and oversee completion to ensure compliance with policies & procedures.
* Review RCEs and project expenses, reporting on a monthly basis and monitoring against budget.
* Ensure Environmental Health & Safety standards are met and all EHS regulations and procedures are adhered to.
* Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for EHS performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott's EHS Program.
* Report any work-related injuries or illness to employee health and assist in investigations.
* Update procedures for GMP, EHS, Technical/New equipment, Quality, and SOPs.
* Participate actively in and support Abbott's EHS programs and attend EHS training as assigned.
* Presentation skills to Executive Management.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
* Ability to summarize financial data into high-quality, accurate, and usable summaries.
* Strong computer skills, especially MS Office; SAP is a distinct advantage.
Education and Experience:
* Professional qualification in accountancy and/or degree in accounting.
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
* 2 to 4 years' experience in the manufacturing industry.
