Talbot Hotel Carlow, part of the Talbot Collection, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Rooms Division Manager to lead and manage all aspects of the Front Office and Reservations departments. As the Rooms Division Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maximizing revenue and operational efficiency within these critical areas of our hotel.
The successful candidate will be required to work 5/7 days per week and will report to the General Manager.
Main Duties:
1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Front Office and Reservations departments, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
2. Develop and implement strategies to optimize room revenue and occupancy rates through effective pricing and inventory management techniques, working closely with the Area Revenue Manager.
3. Ensure the efficient processing of all reservations, ensuring data capture is accurate and comprehensive to assist the revenue manager in developing effective strategies.
4. Foster a culture of exceptional guest service by providing leadership, guidance, and training to front-line staff, ensuring adherence to established standards and procedures.
5. Collaborate with other department heads to ensure seamless coordination and communication, particularly with Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage departments.
6. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including but not limited to occupancy rates, average daily rate (ADR), revenue per available room (RevPAR), and guest satisfaction scores, taking proactive measures to address any areas of concern.
7. Lead recruitment, training, and performance evaluation efforts for Front Office and Reservations team members, fostering a positive and cohesive work environment.
8. Implement and maintain effective systems and procedures for front desk operations, including check-in/check-out processes, guest registration, room assignments, and billing procedures.
9. Oversee the reservation process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and industry standards.
10. Actively engage with guests to address any concerns or special requests, striving to exceed their expectations and cultivate loyalty.
11. Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities, making recommendations for adjustments to strategies and tactics as needed.
12. Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, providing insights into departmental performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
The successful candidate will have:
1. Minimum of 2 years' experience in hotel operations, with a focus on Front Office and Reservations management.
2. Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
3. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate, inspire, and mentor a diverse team.
4. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-centric mindset.
5. Proficiency in property management systems (PMS), reservation software, and other relevant technology platforms (currently using Hotsoft).
6. Solid understanding of revenue management principles and practices, with a track record of driving revenue growth and profitability.
7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, remaining calm and composed under challenging circumstances.
8. Be flexible and a team player.
The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work variable shifts on a full-time basis in Ireland.
