Reuters is looking for a journalist with great sources and ideas to cover China’s markets from Hong Kong. The role sits within the Asia breaking news team that handles the daily news file, from snaps to market reports, as well as stories aimed at media customers and consumers. This role requires a deep understanding of financial markets and the industry.
About the Role
In this opportunity as China Markets Correspondent, you will:
* Be the Hong Kong-based extension of our mainland China markets team and report on all aspects of the offshore China trade.
* Look for innovative and interesting ways to tell stories about the yuan and Chinese bonds, internationalization and the digital currency, and Chinese investment flows and investors to a broad audience.
* Ensure we are delivering fast, comprehensive and insightful coverage that goes beyond the numbers, working closely with finance and markets colleagues in the broader team.
* Build sources at banks, brokerages and asset managers to break news and keep our readers ahead.
* Have strong writing skills, thrive in a breaking news environment and have a fascination for processes and market dynamics.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of China Markets Correspondent if your background includes:
* Ability to cultivate a variety of cross-border sources among China-watchers, investors and businesses across the world.
* Deep understanding of financial markets, ideally across asset classes.
* A strong work ethic and team spirit.
