Mc Shortall Childcare Ltd, t/a TLC Unlimited is a busy creche and preschool, catering to the needs of children from 0-5 years. We are situated in the historic village of Blarney in Cork and have been part of that community for 17 years.
We are seeking to employ a Childcare Centre Manager in preparation for September 2024.
Childcare managers play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing and educational environment for young children and your work contributes significantly to the well-being of families and communities.
Roles and Responsibilities
Supervising Children and Staff
* Taking day to day responsibility for both children and staff
* Ensuring high standards of care at the service
* Overseeing the development of curricula in co-operation with room leaders and in line with Aistear and Síolta
* Overseeing the implementation of short, medium and long term activities and learning opportunities
Health and Safety
* Maintaining a high standard of hygiene and safety
* Adhering to child protection policies and promptly reporting any concerns
* Being prepared to take charge of children and staff in the case of emergencies in line with our Critical Incident Plan
Administration and Management
* Have a working knowledge of Word, Excel and Childcare Apps such as Little Vista or Childpath
* Have a working knowledge of government childcare platforms such as Pobal, Early Years Hive
* Be familiar with government childcare and early education schemes such as ECCE and NCS
* Managing budgets, maintaining accounts and ensuring financial stability
* Keeping accurate records required by regulatory bodies, which are easily accessible and retrievable
* Representing the centre during inspections by Tusla, Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety
Communication and Relationships
* Developing positive relationships with parents and carers
* Developing positive working relationships with team members
* Co-ordinating recruitment, induction, appraisal and training for staff
* Remaining open to, and offering, suggestions for improvement in any aspect of the service
* Revising and updating existing policies and devising and implementing new policies
The successful candidate must have
Personal Specifications
* At least 3 years experience in a similar role
* Ability to lead a team
* Kindness and empathy
* Good communication skills with children, parents and other team members
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and regulations
All candidates will be subject to Garda Vetting.
