Sigmar Recruitment are working alongside an established Mechanical Contractor in Galway who are looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their team!
About your new role as a Junior Quantity Surveyor:
Our client is seeking an Trainee Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Galway. The successful candidate will be trained to eventually be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of mechanical services within construction projects, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is looking to gain a full time career within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
* Monitor and report on project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets and identifying areas for cost control.
* Assist with procurement processes, including tendering, supplier negotiations, and subcontractor management.
* Review project specifications and drawings to identify cost-effective solutions and provide value engineering input.
* Manage variations and changes to the scope of works, ensuring they are accurately valued and documented.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements.
* Provide regular progress reports, including cost forecasting and final account preparation.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure seamless communication and successful project delivery.
* Assist with contract administration and dispute resolution as required.
What Skills You Need:
* Mechanical experience is preferred but not essential.
* Willingness to learn and start a long-term career within the Mechanical Industry.
* 6 months+ experience within the Irish Construction Industry.
* Degree within the Engineering Industry is preferred.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software.
