Staff Nurse - UPMC Aut Even
We are recruiting a Staff Nurse (Wards) on a full-time, permanent basis.
Overview of Role
The post holder will work as an integral member of the Nursing and Multidisciplinary team involved in the provision of evidence-based care to patients attending the hospital.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Practice according to the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and Professional Clinical Guidelines.
* Adhere at all times to the Nursing Board code for nurses.
* Follow UPMC Aut Even Hospital guidelines, policies, and protocols.
* Work within their scope of practice and develop necessary competence for professional practice.
* Maintain a high standard of professional behavior and be accountable for their practice.
* Provide a caring, efficient, and highly professional nursing service to all patients in their care.
* Aware of ethical policies and procedures relevant to their area of practice.
* Respect patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
* Assume responsibility for ward management in the absence of the CNMII.
* Undertake mentor/buddy role and facilitate new staff orientation and development.
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient programs of care.
* Ensure patients receive agreed nursing model care.
* Receive patients and relatives in a calm, courteous manner and ensure they are informed of progress and treatments.
* Support and assist medical staff with procedures and treatments.
* Evaluate and document nursing procedures in accordance with hospital policies.
* Control, store, and administer drugs and medicines according to Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland regulations and hospital policy.
* Anticipate and respond to patient needs.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in coordinating patient care.
* Advocate for individual patients and families.
* Ensure empathetic, ethical care and maintain patient dignity.
* Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate discharge planning and continuity of care.
* Use medical equipment and devices safely at ward level.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Registered in the General Division of the NMBI register.
* A minimum of 1-2 years post-registration experience is desirable.
* Basic Life Support Certification.
* Flexible to meet hospital needs, potentially moving between wards.
* Available to cover all shifts, including night duty, long days, and weekends.
