Project Manager for LIFE on Machair
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead the EU LIFE project 'Protecting and restoring Ireland's network of machair systems and associated breeding wader and pollinator communities'
Job Description
* Manage and coordinate the EU LIFE project, ensuring timely delivery and high standard of results.
* Foster productive relationships with stakeholders, including agriculture and tourism sectors, State bodies, local authorities, and local communities.
* Liaise with the Project Steering Group, Associated Beneficiary Panel, and EU Commission External Moderator.
* Report to a Principal Officer within the National Parks and Wildlife Service, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Full delivery of the LIFE On Machair Project, implementation of all project actions, and delivery of expected results to a high standard.
2. Ensure preparatory actions are delivered on time and to a standard that facilitates successful rollout of concrete actions.
3. Contribute to recruitment of project team, identify training requirements, and ensure delivery of training.
4. Lead and manage the Project Team.
5. Manage the project budget and financial reporting.
6. Manage the project offices.
7. Liaise with the Project Steering Group and Associated Beneficiary Panel to ensure alignment on project deliverables and milestones.
8. Reporting to, and key contact for, the contracting authority, DHLGH.
9. Land ownership investigation.
10. Identify requirements for external assistance, lead, and support procurement and management of contracts.
11. Coordinate project team contributions to knowledge exchange groups, agri-environment measures, and sustainable amenity usage guidance.
12. Leading on networking and communication, including media events, stakeholder engagement, project website, publications, and attendance at conferences.
13. Liaise with managers of other LIFE projects with similar ecological or geographical focus.
14. Ensure all project actions are undertaken in compliance with National and EU legislation.
15. Establish or maintain management and administrative systems.
16. Approve and coordinate baseline assessments and monitoring.
17. Develop overall communications strategy, approve content of communications materials, and identify opportunities for outreach.
18. Coordinating and participating in raising awareness of the project and disseminating results.

Eligibility Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
* Candidates must have achieved a minimum Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in a relevant subject.
* Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in project and financial management.
* Candidates must have a full clean driving licence and access to their own transport.
The salary for this role is €60,000 - €80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
This is a full-time position, working from an office in Westport, County Mayo, or an agreed office location. A blended working pattern will be available.
