As the Bank’s Public Affairs Manager, you will work with the Senior Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager to develop the public affairs strategy for the Bank and will be responsible for managing the implementation of the same. In this role, you will work with the broader Corporate Affairs & Communications team, as well as with key stakeholders across the wider Bank, to represent the Bank’s business interests from a public affairs perspective. You will monitor all matters of public policy, existing and new, within Ireland and across Europe, which may impact on the Bank’s operations and/or position in the market. You will support engagements with politicians and policy makers, helping to build the Bank’s reputation amongst key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
* Work with the Senior Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager to develop the Bank’s public affairs strategy.
* Manage the implementation of the Bank’s public affairs strategy, ensuring positioning is aligned at all times to the Bank’s overarching business strategy and demonstrates our Brand positioning of being ‘Altogether more human’.
* Build and strengthen the Bank’s professional relationships with relevant civil servants and political representatives.
* Monitor all matters of public affairs, whether in Ireland or outside of Ireland, new or existing, which may impact on the Bank’s operations and/or position in the market.
* Manage the development of a ‘house view’ of key Public Affairs topics of note for Senior Management to support the communication of the Bank’s key policy asks and positions.
* Coordinate any consultation responses on behalf of the Bank to the relevant regulatory / government bodies.
* Manage the Bank’s lobbying policy and coordinate the submission of the Bank’s lobbying activities.
* Attend industry forums and broader external stakeholder forums as required to represent the Bank’s interests from a public affairs perspective.
* Support the Senior Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager in development of consistent messaging and positioning across all stakeholder audiences, including regulatory, political, investor, media, customer and colleague audiences.
* Manage responses to political queries and parliamentary questions, and with preparations for political engagements including Oireachtas Committee meetings.
* Work closely with the broader team to align on messaging and leverage broader communications campaign activity where relevant, to ensure consistency across internal and external communications.
* Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and manage performance.
* Ensure inputs from appropriate stakeholders and teams are captured in a seamless and timely manner to meet communications requirements.
Requirements:
* Minimum 3+ years’ experience working in a relevant field, such as Public Affairs, politics, or journalism.
* Strong understanding of and interest in current affairs, politics, and policy making in Ireland and Europe.
* Experience aligning public policy with business strategy requirements, and translating into public affairs campaigns.
* Experience working on complex policy issues in a regulated sector, preferably in the financial services industry.
* Proven strategic thinker who focuses on the bigger picture while simultaneously being able to meet current needs.
* Extremely strong and effective communicator across all channels of communication, with proven ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, internally and externally, across all levels of seniority.
* Highly organised with the ability to plan effectively, with excellent time management skills.
* Cross-functional teamwork and collaboration skills are integral to the position.
* Flexibility to travel where required for stakeholder engagement purposes.
* An understanding of financial services and/or operating in a regulated environment is essential.
This is a permanent position based in PTSB head Office, St. Stephens Green. (Hybrid option available within the Republic of Ireland Only)
