Windmill Healthcare is looking for reliable Multi-task Assistants for Ferbane Care Centre, Ferbane, Co Offaly.
Our Multitask Assistants will work as a member of our care team, delivering and ensuring the highest levels of care to our Residents.
This role will report directly to the Director of Nursing.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Maintain all areas in the care centre to a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness, and hygiene.
2. Carry out assigned housekeeping duties including cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and mopping of equipment, furnishings, crockery, cutlery, kitchen appliances, toilets, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, windows, and refuse disposal areas.
3. Domestic and hazardous waste disposal; ensure bins are collected, cleaned, and kept in a hygienic manner at all times.
4. Cleaning of spillages as they occur and proper use of safety signs.
5. Adhere to infection control policies and procedures and keep up-to-date on best practices.
6. Report and record any observed defects on the premises and grounds, equipment or other problems that may affect the general standard of service.
Laundry Assistant Duties
1. Arrange the resident's laundry into relevant groups, preparing soiled clothing and linen for laundry processing through the washer, dryer, and iron.
2. Liaise and coordinate with external laundry personnel if any linen is laundered externally.
3. Folding and storage of clothing and linen.
4. Ensure the highest quality standard is achieved in relation to stain removal, cleanliness, and dryness.
5. Ensure statutory Health, Safety & Fire, and Infection Control standards in the laundry area are adhered to and carry out duties in line with health and safety procedures at all times.
Catering Support Duties
1. Support and assist the Catering Supervisor/Chef to document all associated records with ordering, receiving, and maintaining foods in accordance with safe practices and legislation.
2. Assist and support the Catering Supervisor/Chef in the preparation and cooking of excellent quality and wholesome meals and home baking.
3. Support the Catering Supervisor/Chef to ensure all daily menus are balanced and meet our resident's individual requirements.
4. Gain knowledge in food nutrition and diet standards suitable for older people and the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) guidelines.
5. Ensure safe storage of foods in accordance with legislative standards.
Resident Support Duties
1. Support the nursing staff and team in delivering quality person-centered care to meet the needs of residents.
2. Get to know residents' interests and needs providing attention, support, and companionship.
3. Promote the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible.
4. Enable and assist residents to maintain their personal appearance/hygiene needs whilst always maintaining their dignity.
5. Enable and assist residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfort.
6. Participate, organise, and carry out social activities.
7. Sustain a high level of communication between residents' families and staff developing good relationships.
8. Assist in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the home.
Education & Qualifications
* Current and valid Infection Control, Manual and Resident Moving & Handling & Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Certificates (training can be provided if required).
