Why Join Us:
Creation is the core of TikTok's purpose. Our platform is built to help imaginations thrive. Together, we inspire creativity and bring joy - a mission we all believe in and aim towards achieving every day. To us, every challenge, no matter how difficult, is an opportunity; to learn, to innovate, and to grow as one team. At TikTok, we create together and grow together.
The Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.
The Trust & Safety Policy team develops and reviews our community policies to promote a positive and safe environment for all of our users and content creators to enjoy and express themselves.
We're looking for an Outreach and Partnerships Manager to advance our work in Europe, establishing strategic relationships with key external stakeholders including academics, NGOs, and thought leaders. As an Outreach & Partnerships Manager, you will be a primary contact between Global Trust & Safety and external stakeholders to gather feedback and test ideas that will enhance our global policies and products. In this role, you will work closely with the TikTok T&S Global Policy and Product teams, as well as cross-functional partners in Public Policy, Communications, Legal, and Ops to ensure that TikTok cultivates policies that promote creativity and joy while keeping our community safe.
Success in this role is measured by:
* Ensuring that the voices of online safety advocacy groups and experts in Europe are heard by the Global Trust & Safety team.
* Organizing consultations and roundtables to help the Global T&S team listen to and learn from experts and advocates from the region.
* Building clear routes to consultation and engagement with online safety experts both inside and outside the company.
It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role. This may occur in the form of images, video, and text related to everyday life, but it can also include bullying; hate speech; child safety; depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals.
What will I be doing?
* Research, identify, and collaborate with external voices and leverage their expertise and resources to develop corresponding safety programs to improve the Trust & Safety approach to key issue areas.
* Work with your Global Outreach and Partnerships colleagues to ensure that the development of our internal policies and features are informed by respected and diverse external voices.
* Communicate clearly and thoughtfully with a multi-lingual, multicultural T&S team located around the world.
* Build and develop relationships with all colleagues and key cross-functional partners for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing projects, and help to define new operational strategies for the implementation of external feedback.
* Travel frequently to manage stakeholders and projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years in project management or strategic outreach, engagement or communication experience.
* Experience and knowledge of the tech and platform safety focused NGO and academic experts.
* Effective communication and diplomacy skills for working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including product, operations, legal, and policy.
* Strong cross-cultural or global communication background for technical and non-technical audiences and the ability to synthesize complex concepts in easy to understand ways.
* Experience working independently and a passion for tackling big challenges.
* Ability to travel frequently to manage stakeholders and projects.
* Fluency in English and at least one other European language.
Preferred qualifications:
* Passion and study of issues related to marginalized voices including gender, race, religion, or political identity.
* Work experience in, or academic study of, advocacy or NGO organizations, start-ups/entrepreneurship and/or tech companies.
