The Operations & Asset Management Directorate comprises of highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce.
Ireland has a target to achieve 80% of our electricity to come from renewable resources by 2030 and to be net carbon neutral by 2050. The Operations & Asset Management Directorate is central to the delivery of our primary role – the operation, development and enhancement of the all-island power system and the wholesale electricity market. Creating a culture of continuous improvement whilst maintaining operational resilience, that drives technical and process innovation is central to delivering on this role.
The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Senior Analyst in the Auctions team (Capacity Market & RESS). The role holder will work collaboratively across the Group, engaging effectively with key stakeholders, to bring about the change necessary to deliver on our strategic ambitions.
The Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) is a Government of Ireland initiative that provides support to renewable electricity projects in Ireland. RESS is a pivotal component of Programme for Government and the Climate Action Plan 2021 and is a major step in achieving Ireland’s target of at least 80% renewable electricity by 2030. Support under RESS is allocated by way of auctions. RESS auctions will be delivered by Department of Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) with the support of Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) and EirGrid, the Transmission System Operator (TSO).
The Capacity Market is a mechanism to ensure that the electricity supply in Ireland and Northern Ireland continues to meet demand. It is designed to help ensure that the generation capacity in Ireland and Northern Ireland (including Storage, Demand Side Units and Interconnector capacity) is sufficient to meet demand and that the regulatory approved generation adequacy standard is satisfied. This design helps to promote the short-term and long-term interests of consumers of electricity across Ireland and Northern Ireland with respect to price, quality, reliability and security of supply of electricity.

Responsibilities
* You will carry out technology reviews, draft technical specifications and develop business requirements.
* Mentor junior members of the team.
* You will apply your skills, knowledge and experience to effectively deliver on your team’s objectives, overcoming new challenges and technical issues as they arise.
* You will use your technical, report writing and verbal communications skills to continuously improve the way we work, making it more efficient and effective as well as transparent and easy to understand for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* You will perform all work to a high standard with a focus on on-time delivery, applying process excellence to deliver efficiency and quality output.
* Anticipate and mitigate problems as they arise, escalating where necessary.
* You will approach problem solving with an innovative mindset, being open to a wide range of solutions.
* Ensures compliance standards are met across the team (T&Cs & Agreed Procedures)
* Attend Capacity Market Design/RESS Auction Design Implementation Working Group meetings
* Development of tools to assist with day-to-day operation of Capacity Market & RESS Auctions processing
* Supports the team lead in the coordination and management of Capacity Market & RESS Auctions tasks
* Plays a lead role in assessing the technical qualification and auction outcomes
* Prioritising solutions and making recommendations
About You
The successful candidate will have:
* Third level qualification in a relevant discipline
* At least 4 years relevant technical experience
* Excellent presentation skills
* Experience gained in acting as an area representative at a senior level, or potential to act in this capacity
* Effective communicator and excellent report writing capability
* Experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment with a flexible approach
* Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
* Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving capability
