ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Sales Manager will form part of the sales management team and will have responsibility for leading, developing, and managing a team of account managers tasked to develop and grow sales across our account base. This will be done by ensuring an exemplary sales experience to all our customers, rolling out new opportunities to relevant customers, developing strong relationships and consistent sales pipelines, and the successful onboarding of both new contracts and customers.
You will be responsible for day-to-day management and support of your team, including performance reviews, 1:1’s, handling escalations, team communication and updates, process improvements and team training and development.
The Sales Manager will work to understand our customer needs, leading initiatives to increase your team’s performance and improve how we manage both our existing and potential customers sales experience (enquiries, lead conversion, CRM, quoting, pricing etc.)to ensure that we maximise any opportunities and grow our market share.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
People Management
* Setting and monitoring performance (KPI’s) and targets for members of your team. Ensure that we are capturing and measuring all important aspects of sales team performance and expectations (e.g. targets, margin contribution, upkeep of CRM funnel, account retention and category expectations)
* Actively take part in performance discussions, providing coaching and guidance to direct reports, as required.
* Promote and foster a high-performance culture that is inclusive and collaborative with regular feedback and communication with your team and key stakeholders.
* Support on customer visits, sales projects and other interdepartmental projects.
* Team development and training plan.
* Handling account specific escalations.
Sales Performance & Account Base Strategy
* Responsible for sales and margin performance on agreed customer account base.
* Monthly reporting on sales performance against target and reporting on variances and trends within the data.
* Account base strategy – review our overall approach to our account base and how we resource and manage.
* Manage the relationships with our key customers including contracts, SLA's, rebates, pricing etc.
* Sales & Marketing Alignment – input/coordination in key sales and marketing activities.
* Provide all customer accounts, both new and existing, with a best-in-class account management and sales user experience.
Growth & Continuous Improvement
* Identifying key areas for improvement in the sales process particularly in how we manage customer facing touch points such as enquiries, leads, quoting and pricing.
* Liaising with our Pricing Manager on overall pricing strategy.
* Strategic development and retention of existing accounts.
* Supporting Tender Manager on tender submissions and customer onboarding.
* Improve how we roll out new opportunities (products and services) to across the account base and the improve the sales return we get on any new initiatives.
* Proactively contribute and partake in management training and meetings, strategy days and other initiatives to drive organisational performance and strategy.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
To be a great fit for this role you will have:
* Strong people management experience (5+ years’ experience)
* Experience in building, developing and managing sales processes and funnels.
* Proven record in change management and working within a dynamic team.
* Target driven and results oriented.
* Proven ability to develop a strong sales team and high-performance culture
* Excellent communication and influencing skills. Proven capability of building strong and effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
* Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
