Who We Are
HSE Mid West Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be fully operational from 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population specific planning, resourcing, and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. This will result in improved accountability and governance in terms of finance and performance.
Description
The Staff Nurse General (Community) appointed to these posts will work within the Community as part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering a coordinated approach to client care. S/he may be required to work as a key worker for particular cases as required. The Staff Nurse General (Community) will be expected to maintain a high standard of nursing care, to share responsibility with the community nursing team for the management of nursing care and the patients’ environment, and to maintain a high standard of professional and ethical responsibility.
The Staff Nurse General (Community) will be based in a Community team from where he/she will provide domiciliary and clinic-based services.
The Staff Nurse General (Community) will be required to provide planned essential services to clients at weekends and bank holidays as rostered.
The Staff Nurse General (Community) will work as part of a Primary care team which will be network-based. This team consists of RGNs, PHNs, Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Social workers, and administrative staff. They will also link in with clients' GPs, hospital-based teams, and voluntary teams (meals and wheels, day care services, etc.) in the course of their work with clients and families in the delivery of care in the home and clinic setting.
