Job Summary:
The Production Unit Manager will be directly responsible for a team of Supervisors and Team Leaders, ensuring the development and growth of the site. You will be tasked with engaging your team with a “can do” approach, ensuring that functional KPI’s for each team member are achieved. The Production Unit Manager will be responsible for ensuring that Elis is able to deliver a professional service solution and that customers are satisfied. Drive structured projects to ensure continuous improvement of all production operations.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that the production function complies with Group and site HR and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
2. Lead the Production Team to ensure all KPI’s are achieved.
3. Complete the shift report and daily utility readings on a daily basis.
4. Complete TCL and gathering tools report on a weekly basis.
5. Monitor production and resolve issues.
6. Ensure the correct staffing levels are maintained.
7. Articulate and communicate ongoing machine issues to the maintenance team.
8. Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
9. Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.
Team Management:
1. Ensure that payroll is completed accurately and efficiently.
2. Create an environment where the team is motivated and productive.
3. Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with the company's plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates.
4. Ensure that staff are trained up to Elis standards.
5. Determine the amount of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.).
6. Identify potential employees to develop further in the business as part of a smooth succession plan.
7. Ensure strategic goals are communicated to the wider team.
8. Ensure all staff are properly trained and motivated to achieve the functional objectives.
9. Improve and develop current operations to increase the effectiveness of all production activities.
10. Analyze the results and implement corrective action to continuously improve the working environment.
11. Any other tasks assigned by the General/Operations Manager.
Health and Safety:
1. Work with Health and Safety to promote and manage H+S activities with overall responsibility for site, personal and product safety.
2. Promote awareness of and compliance with established procedures.
3. Ensure facility standards and housekeeping are kept to audit standards at all times; all relevant paperwork to be kept up to date.
4. Proactively keep current with the latest standards (ISO / RABC) through both internal and external training.
Employee Development:
1. Liaise with the HR department regarding any HR issues, staff training & recruitment.
2. Ensure all staff comply with HR policies and procedures.
3. Identify staff not reaching their targets and refer them to HR.
4. Promote staff well-being and team spirit.
5. Ensure that probation reviews for staff are up to date.
6. Apply the performance management process to new and existing employees, maintaining consistent and clear communication with the team.
Manage Business Activities:
1. Liaise with the Customer Service Manager, Service coordinators, and reps during the shift regarding customer/production-related issues.
2. Liaise with the Distribution Manager regarding customer/production-related issues or changes to delivery requirements.
3. Be versatile in approach and able to act as supervisor in either of the two distinct production facilities on the site; the ideal candidate must be flexible and trained to maintain both plants across multiple and ever-changing shifts as required by the business.
4. Support the Operations Manager in management and introduction of ad hoc projects as required.
A full induction and training plan will be drawn up and communicated with you on commencement of this role. You will have to be flexible in the role.
Knowledge And Skills:
1. Proven work experience as Production Manager or similar role.
2. Demonstrable knowledge of organization effectiveness, best management practices, and project management.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, a vision for success, and the ability to take responsibility, coach, develop, and mentor.
4. Demonstrable track record in driving the best out of people while managing to agreed business deadlines.
