Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Care Worker to join our client's residential team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people by providing high-quality care and support in a nurturing environment. As a Social Care Worker, you will play a key role in assessment and planning, educational support, care provision, documentation, and team collaboration. You will work closely with young people, colleagues, and external professionals to create a safe, structured, and supportive environment that meets the unique needs of each individual.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the development and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans (BSP), Individual Crisis Management Plans (ICMP), and Placement Plans aligned with each young person’s Care Plan.
* Provide daily care and supervision to young people in accordance with their individual needs and placement goals.
* Engage in residential care activities, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
* Support young people in building life skills, resilience, and positive relationships.
* Facilitate 1:1 and group learning sessions for young people not engaged in external schooling.
* Assist with homework, assignments, and educational activities for those attending school.
* Encourage and support personal growth, self-confidence, and social development.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using internal systems.
* Liaise with supervisors, professionals, families, and referral agents as required.
* Ensure all reporting is completed in compliance with regulations and best practices.
* Implement Health & Safety policies and risk assessments for young people and the environment.
* Support the team in evaluating service quality, addressing complaints, and maintaining compliance with standards.
* Ensure all actions align with child protection policies and the Irish National Standards in Children’s Residential Centres.
* Actively participate in team meetings, training, and development activities.
* Foster a positive team culture, collaboration, and strong working relationships.
* Provide mentorship and support to relief staff and trainees.
* In the absence of a Social Care Leader, undertake key leadership responsibilities.
* Perform household duties including cooking, cleaning, and maintenance to create a homely environment.
* Manage and reconcile petty cash and financial transactions in line with internal policies.
* Ensure daily administrative tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Essential Criteria:
Education:
Minimum Level 7 qualification in Social Care or an equivalent related field that meets CORU registration criteria. Alternative relevant qualifications include:
* Level 8 in Psychology
* Level 7 in:
* Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
* Counselling/Psychotherapy
* Addiction Counselling
* Youth & Community Work
* Social Sciences/Social Studies
* Family Support
* Disability Studies
* Applied Behavioural Analysis
* Early Years Care
* BA Applied Policing
* Higher Certificate in Custodial Care
* Teaching or Nursing
Experience:
Previous experience working with teenagers with challenging behaviours in a residential or similar setting.
Skills & Attributes:
* Strong understanding of teamwork and collaboration.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Familiarity with child protection regulations and residential care standards.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively.
Additional Requirements: Full, clean manual driving license.
