The opportunity
Join this team of five and enjoy the supportive team environment at Tram Road Dairy Unit as our Dairy Production Manager (2IC). Your day-to-day activities will involve bringing the cows in for milking, doing the milking, shifting both the cows and the young stock, etc. You will support the Farm Manager in the day-to-day planning, coaching staff and running of the farm including taking on responsibility for feed allocation, animal health, budgeting, and animal records. When the Farm Manager is on rostered time-off you will step in to manage operations.
You will work 6 on 2 off roster.

The Farm
Located 10 minutes south of Westport, as part of our Cape Foulwind complex, Tram Road Dairy Unit is a unique dairy farm due to its undulating terrain and significant amount of QE2 and DOC reserves within its boundary, with plenty of recreational activities, both inside and outside the farm boundary. This 450 ha property milks 850 cows through a 60-bail rotary with ACR’s, milk hub and an in-shed feeding system.
About You
You will bring sound knowledge and similar experience at this level, across all aspects of dairy operations. You will also have:
1. Reliability and a good work ethic with an affinity and passion for stock
2. Experience leading and motivating a team
3. Ability to keep accurate and detailed records
4. Excellent time management and communication skills
5. First class attitude to Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Management
6. Current and full NZ driver’s licence
