About Golf Ireland:
Golf Ireland is the single governing body for golf on the island of Ireland, established in January 2021. It is responsible for leading, growing, and supporting the game of golf.
The primary functions of Golf Ireland include the administration of Championships and Inter-Club events, the administration of the World Handicap System and the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status, the delivery of a world-class high-performance programme, contesting and hosting international fixtures, supporting clubs, and growing the game. Golf Ireland is currently in the middle of its first strategic plan titled ‘Golf is a Game for Everyone’.
Due to staff expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen based in Leinster as a Club Support Officer. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in the delivery and coordination of Club Support Initiatives in Leinster and play a key role in the broader Development and Club Support Team.
About the Role
1. Support clubs in the region in the areas of club management, club planning, membership development, governance, and equality using the Golf Ireland guidance resources, programmes, and agreed processes.
2. Deliver Golf Ireland’s club support initiatives in golf clubs across the region in line with the strategy and operational plan.
3. Deliver Golf Ireland’s golf development initiatives in golf clubs across the region in line with the national strategy and operational plan.
4. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the region.
5. Deliver the required educational workshops, seminars & webinars as requested.
6. Work as part of the regional team in Leinster as well as the overall Development and Club Support Team.
7. Respond to enquiries in a timely manner, keeping appropriate records.
8. On occasion provide support with the delivery of regional tournaments as required.
9. Recruit, retain and develop a network of volunteers, PGA Professionals, Community Golf Instructors; who in turn deliver opportunities to participate in golf activities.
10. Work closely with the Golf in the Community Officers.
11. Signpost clubs to additional support within Golf Ireland where required.
12. Promote the Women in Golf Charter and Sports Inclusion Disability Charter within Golf Clubs.
13. Input to Golf Ireland’s Development & Club Support strategy and planning.
14. Monitor & review the impact of development and club support initiatives in the region.
15. Keep excellent records and provide regular progress updates.
Please note: Some of the key responsibilities listed above are seasonal by nature and will not be required all year round. Priorities will be outlined in the implementation plan. The successful candidate will be required to travel on a regular basis primarily within the region.
About the Candidate
Experience & Knowledge:
1. Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders.
2. Have an understanding of Golf Ireland, its strategy, and current Golf Ireland development and club support guidance, resources, and initiatives.
3. Demonstrable experience working in sports development.
4. Demonstrable project management/coordination experience.
5. A good understanding and/or experience of governance and management practices in sports clubs.
6. A proven ability to facilitate/deliver workshops.
7. A general understanding of golf and golf clubs is an advantage.
8. Experience working with volunteers.
9. Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
10. Ability to build relationships.
11. Ability to work as part of a team and have a willingness to learn.
12. Strong communication and administration skills.
13. Planning and time management skills.
14. Be a self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team and follow direction.
15. Can adapt to frequent changes in workload and has the ability to prioritise work accordingly.
16. Willing to be held to account and measured on performance.
17. Open to receiving and taking on board constructive feedback.
18. Ability to deliver group-based Golf activities.
19. Energetic and enthusiastic.
20. Full Clean Driving Licence.
21. I.T proficient with a good understanding of all Microsoft packages (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Terms And Conditions:
This full-time role, reporting to Golf Ireland’s Director of Development and Club Support. Regular travel will be required; a hybrid working policy is in place.
