The Microsoft Word Writing Intelligence team are looking for talented and highly motivated applied scientists with expertise in building large scale natural language understanding and natural language generation models using cutting edge Deep Learning technologies, Large Language Models as well as advanced linguistic knowledge. The team has a 25-year track record of creating AI-powered writing assistance features with a vision of bringing out the best writer in everyone. The team have recently launched a set of groundbreaking Copilot features that help users to dramatically enhance productivity and creativity throughout their writing journey from start to finish.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
1. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
2. 3+ years of research or product experience in NLP.
3. 3+ years of hands-on experience in Deep Learning using PyTorch, Tensorflow or similar.
4. 3+ years of software engineering experience in Python or C#.
5. Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills and a customer-centric mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
6. PhD degree in Computational Linguistics or Computer Science with a focus on NLP.
7. Fluency with recent NLP & ML advancement as well as a driven passion for discovering the next generation of technology.
8. Experience conducting applied research and publishing papers.
9. Experience working in collaborative multiple team environment and ship production features in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
The mission of our team is to advance intelligent reading and writing assistance in M365 and to make fundamental contributions to advancing the state-of-the-art in language technology within Microsoft and in industry.
As an experienced applied scientist, your responsibilities include:
10. Collaborate with researchers, applied scientists, engineers, product managers, designers to design and build state-of-the-art deep learning NLP solutions to power M365 customers.
11. Perform rigorous science experiments and evaluations to assess the quality and impact of your solutions and improve them based on data and customer feedback.
12. Drive AI projects through their entire life cycle from idea creation through applied research, implementation, experimentation and finally to worldwide availability.
13. Stay updated with the latest research and trends in NLP and related fields and explore new ideas and opportunities for innovation.
