Retail Supervisor Job Description
To assist the Retail & Forecourt manager and area manager in the delivery of store targets (both in terms of sales & profitability) through the effective management of store operations and personnel.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise the activities of the retail sales team daily and ensure necessary tasks are completed to an appropriate level.
* Ensure high-quality and consistent customer service is provided at all times.
* Delegate and communicate effectively with the retail sales team.
* Supervise the effective induction and training of all employees.
* Communicate sales performance to the team.
* Assist the store manager in the recruitment of high caliber retail sales assistants.
* Assist the store manager in the effective management of retail sales team performance.
Operations
* Ensure store is merchandised in a customer-friendly and competitive manner ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
* Ensure housekeeping in the store is maintained at an optimum level.
* Co-ordinate in-store sales and promotions.
* Communicate with the retail sales team regarding in-store sales and promotions.
* Ensure the appropriate cash register and cash handling policy is adhered to.
* Ensure shelf-edged labels are updated every week.
* React to local market trends and competition in an appropriate manner.
* Ensure customers receive high-quality and consistent service at all times.
* Deal with and rectify customer complaints effectively and pleasantly.
* Proactively take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints.
Stock Management
* Assist the manager in preparations for stock take and supervise where appropriate.
* Minimise stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage.
* Evaluate food management and waste systems adherence by the retail sales team.
* Check stock to ensure adequate stock is available for customer's needs.
* Rotate stock to ensure in-date stock is available and to minimise waste through out-of-date stock.
Legislation & Security
* Ensure secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager.
* Assist the manager as appropriate in matters relating to managing staff ensuring compliance with Labour Law, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Consumer Legislation.
* Identify and reduce or eliminate potential hazards in the store.
* Work with the Store Manager to conduct and action Health & Safety checks accordingly.
Office
* Count cash correctly daily and prepare lodgments for Securicor pickup.
* Prepare accurate floats daily.
* Lodge money in the ATM.
* Complete reports as requested by the Head Office accountant.
* Submit reports to the Head office either on a daily or weekly basis.
* Book Delivery Dockets onto the CBE system daily.
* Conduct stock takes of key lines daily or weekly and as requested by Head Office Accountant.
* Organize the monthly stock count.
* Complete Rota in conjunction with the Retail Manager and send wage report to Galway accurately every week.
* Maintain up-to-date filing.
* Help on the shop floor.
* Order Coin for the Shop.
* Perform ad hoc duties at the request of the Head Office or the Retail Manager/Area Manager.
* Show flexibility to assist at tills during peak and busy times.

* Working with the General Manager to drive turnover down at both the salaried manager and crew level.
