Design & Construction Manager, EMEA, GREF
As a member of the Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team, this position develops and delivers consistent strategies for managing design and construction project staff. It standardizes planning, design, and construction practices for all corporate leased and owned projects in Amazon's EMEA-based Corporate Real Estate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Represent GREF to internal and external customers for the delivery of office space.
2. Work closely with and manage teams of project managers, architects, design consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
Project Management:
* Develop project strategies and ensure appropriate resources are allocated to complete the project.
* Guide design, including space plan, finishes, systems, equipment, etc.
* Guide construction, including selection of contractors, contract negotiations, approvals of budgets, change orders, procurement, and contracting methods.
* Evaluate, approve, or reject design changes by customers and designers.
* Oversee project management vendors and create project budgets for spend approvals.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Influence design guidelines, including minimum specifications and basis of design for various building systems.
* Assist in evaluating prospective office lease space.
* Work with Amazon Procurement to establish priorities and create/implement strategies for generating savings on corporate office construction related items.
* Negotiate with landlords regarding issues surrounding possession timing and latent defects.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in construction management, business administration, engineering, architecture, interior design, or a similar discipline.
* Basic understanding and proficiency with the German language.
* Keen understanding of sourcing/procurement, building systems and maintenance, vendor management, and customer service.
