Akara are currently recruiting for a fulltime Perception Engineer to join our team.
Akara is a robotics and artificial intelligence company based in The Digital Hub, Thomas street, Dublin, Ireland. We are currently offering a fulltime, permanent role based in Dublin with the opportunity for work from home.
About the role
The successful candidate will work closely with other engineers in the company including the Chief Robotics Officer on the company’s products. In particular this includes an embedded device that uses a thermal vision sensor. This will include the development of ML systems to operate on data from thermal cameras and integration of such models in an on-the-edge system including hardware acceleration. Multiple use cases will be explored and the infrastructure necessary to deploy such systems will be integrated.
Requirements
* Currently hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree or higher diploma in Computer Science / Engineering, etc., or equivalent experience.
* Strong knowledge of machine learning and computer vision algorithms.
* Experience interfacing with cameras and other sensors.
* Experience with hardware acceleration.
* Strong dev-ops, Linux and coding ability (Python).
* Strong analytical skills.
* Demonstrated track record of being proactive, driven and pleasant to work alongside.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage time and workload appropriately.
* Experience working with embedded systems.
* Knowledge of BLE, Wifi or other wireless protocols.
* Experience with thermal imagery.
* Able to work in Dublin office (D8).
