Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Product Operations team is currently seeking to appoint a multifaceted and self-motivated individual to work in the EMEIA Manufacturing Engineering team to support our Research and Development programmes. This position is responsible for developing pioneering manufacturing processes and equipment for innovative new technologies in collaboration with Product Design teams based in Cupertino. The role will also involve the design, development, and manufacture of mechanical aspects of prototype systems. The successful candidate will drive quality and process improvements across all activities performed within Cork manufacturing and EMEIA locations. This includes working with in-region functions such as Production, Test, Quality, and US-based support teams, including Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Product Management, to provide engineering solutions to optimise our manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
1. Work with experts in different domains, including Marketing, HI, Product Design, System Architects, Vision/Neuroscience, Algorithms, Calibration Architects, System EE, and Reliability teams.
2. Design and develop processes and prototypes with a primary focus on mechanical assembly.
3. Focus on design for manufacturability and design for assembly.
4. Analyse complex challenges around mechanical design, fit, and function, and develop solutions.
5. Develop prototype manufacturing processes and equipment.
6. Design, commission, and qualify semi-automated and automated assembly fixtures.
7. Design, manufacture, and assemble prototype solutions both internally and with external vendors.
8. Support several high-profile projects simultaneously.
9. Provide engineering support in manufacturing locations within EMEIA.
10. Travel in support of this role.
Essential Skills
11. Experience in process and equipment design, development, and implementation.
12. Experience in fixture development with skills in 3D Computer-Aided Design packages, such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, or similar.
13. Ability to identify, initiate, and drive continuous improvement throughout the business.
14. Excellent analytical, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
15. Strong sense of urgency and customer focus with experience working to strict timelines.
16. Flexible and capable of working on own initiative with a professional attitude and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
17. Capable of developing strong working relationships with vendor and sub-contractor engineering teams.
18. Exposure to high technology manufacturing in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
19. Exposure to lean principles, 5S, Six Sigma, standard work, and industrial engineering methodologies is an advantage.
20. Exposure to automation and equipment design is an advantage.
21. (Hons) NFQ Level 8 / NFQ Level 9 in Mechanical/Biomedical/Mechatronics/Electronic/Process Engineering or equivalent qualification with appropriate industrial experience.
22. Experience in R&D, mechanical design, process development/design engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
