Job Title: Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor of Bioengineering for the Circular Bio-Economy
The UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering is a dynamic, research-driven school with a clear focus on delivering excellent teaching programmes. The school has an acknowledged international track record of research achievement across major fields including Food and Bioprocess Engineering, Biosystems Analysis and Modelling, Agricultural and Environmental Technologies, Energy and Circular Bioeconomy, with Sustainability as a focal point.
Research Focus:
* Developing world-class research in biological engineering solutions that enable the circular bioeconomy.
* Contribution to inspirational teaching to advance the field of biological engineering solutions for the circular bioeconomy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Establish new and collaborative research programmes aligned with the research and innovation ambition of the school.
* Advance emerging concepts in bioengineering for the circular bioeconomy through innovative technologies such as sensors, biosensors, bioresource characterisation, digital technologies, and machine learning.
* Engage with societal, policy, and industry stakeholders to drive implementation, uptake, and impact through innovation.
* Lead the programme development and delivery of the UCD BSc Circular Bioeconomy and enhance the School's education streams across undergraduate programmes in Sustainable systems Engineering, Taught programmes in Agrifood Innovation and Entrepreneurship (FAST-IP), Sustainable Energy and Green Technology, and within our learning for life platform integrating micro credentials, International sustainability summer school, and professional reskilling programmes.
Requirements:
* An honours primary degree and a PhD in the circular bioeconomy or cognate discipline.
Appointment Details:
* Lecturer/Asst Professor Above the Bar (7943) Salary Scale: €62,855 - €99,533 Per Annum.
