Operational EHS Manager, Ireland

We are now looking for an Operational EHS Manager to join our team in Ireland and support our mission of protecting health and well-being in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way.
As our Operational EHS Manager, you will oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance for Stericycle’s operations across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Your role will be crucial in driving improvements in safety culture and ensuring adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities:
1. You’ll be supporting operations to enhance safety and compliance culture through site visits, coaching, and guidance.
2. You’ll handle quality control of incidents (injuries, vehicle accidents, and environmental incidents) to ensure thorough reporting, investigation, and corrective action.
3. You’ll be leading the deployment of EHS policies, procedures, programs, and training for designated sites.
4. You’ll be developing, maintaining, and delivering training on risk assessments and safe systems of work.
5. You’ll be conducting internal audits and inspections to evaluate compliance.
6. You’ll be supporting environmental protection, engineering projects, and business enhancements.
7. You’ll be managing regulatory inspections and maintaining relationships with site regulators.
8. You’ll carry out additional tasks as required to support EHS initiatives.
Education and Experience:
1. You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Safety, Environmental Discipline, or equivalent experience (3+ years).
2. You have a diploma-level health and safety qualification preferred or equivalent work experience (3+ years).
3. You’re fluent in written and spoken English.
4. You have strong knowledge of European, national, and local EHS regulations or a willingness to acquire such knowledge within a reasonable timeframe.
5. You’re proficient in computer applications.
6. * Industry experience in waste management is desirable but not essential.
Licences and Competencies:
1. Valid driving license as you will be traveling between sites for around 20% of the time.
2. You can interpret strategic objectives and develop solutions to meet short- and long-term goals.
3. You have strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
4. You’re detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
5. You have effective communication and presentation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
6. You can easily adapt to changing situations, tasks, and responsibilities.
7. You have the ability to travel throughout Ireland, with occasional travel to Great Britain.
