Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and motivated Data Manager to join the ESS (Enterprise Software Systems). The teams you will manage are responsible for all data acquisition, processing and support of the entire universe of Reference data that is critical to our Trading business. Maintaining the operational stability and accuracy of the production environment would be crucial to this role. The operations and support teams sources and processes around 25 000 files daily from 130 data vendors, maintains the accuracy of a million financial instrument definitions, manages a critical overnight batch processing environment with an oncall function, and supports a 15 hour trading day with 2 working day shifts. The role will also necessitate working with senior stakeholders to implement new Business Requirements and to identify and drive initiatives to improve operational processes within areas of data sourcing, data integrity, data distribution, and the data management systems which are required to support trading and trading analytics activities. As a senior member of the ESS and wider Technology team, you will play a key role in driving the data strategy, ensuring that our data infrastructure supports the evolving needs of the business. Responsibilities Team Management: Management of the 3 teams (development, operations, and support) responsible for data acquisition, processing, and distribution, as well as reference data integrity.Production Environment: Take responsibility for maintaining a stable and accurate production data set which can continue to fulfil the business applications requirements. Ensure production support and issue management is effectively managed.Strategic Data Governance: Oversee the integrity and strategic alignment of instrument reference data, trading analytical data, and transactional data ensuring it meets the needs of trading desks and aligns with organisational goals.Stakeholder Management: Act as a key liaison between senior stakeholders, including Traders, Developers, Quants, Support teams, Business Analysts, Operations, Finance, and Compliance teams, ensuring that data management processes are understood and supported across the organisation.Process Optimisation : Identify and lead initiatives to enhance and automate data management processes, driving continuous improvement in data accuracy and operational efficiency.Cross-Office Collaboration: Proactively maintain strong collaboration with the key leaders of data teams in other Susquehanna offices, taking an active role in global reference data initiatives.Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional projects aimed at advancing the capabilities of data tools and workflows, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.Data Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement data strategies that support business growth and technological advancementSystem Enhancement: Drive the analysis and implementation of system upgrades (which will be include exchange and vendor system upgrades), ensuring that changes are effectively managed and aligned with business requirements.
What we’re looking for
Industry Experience: 10+ years of experience in managing high-volume financial data within a trading or financial services environment, with a strong focus on reference data.Financial Knowledge: Deep understanding of tradeable instruments such as equities, ETFs, derivatives (options, futures, swaps, etc), and commodities, including the data requirements for their trading, settlement, and clearing.Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and Business Intelligence tools such as Informatica, QlikView, or Splunk. Experience with data retrieval from third-party sources like exchanges, Bloomberg and Reuters is highly desirable.Leadership and Project Management: Strong leadership skills with experience in leading complex projects and cross-functional teams to deliver on strategic goals. Personal Attributes:Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an emphasis on strategic outcomes.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex data concepts to a wide range of audiences.Highly motivated with a proactive leadership style, eager to drive continuous improvement and challenge the status quo.Exhibits a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, which is essential when managing complex data environments.
