The Organisation:
The Bergerie Trust, since its establishment in 1990, works to address homelessness and vulnerability in the community through the provision of housing and care services that focus especially on the needs of vulnerable elderly people. Bergerie Trust provides sheltered housing and day centre services for elderly and vulnerable people in the Limerick area. The vision of the Bergerie Trust is to make the best contribution possible towards a society free of homelessness and vulnerability. The board of Bergerie Trust Ltd. comprises of representatives from local businesses and two Good Shepherd Sisters.
The Role:
The Bergerie Trust is seeking an individual with proven knowledge in Human Resource management to join our board. If you have experience in this area and want to play a key role in our organisation, we’re keen to hear from you.
Charities Regulator’s General Trustee duties of a Charity Trustee:
* Comply with the Charity’s governing document.
* Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
* Acting in the best interest of the charity.
* Act with Reasonable Care and Skill.
* Manage the assets of your charity.
By being a trustee of the Bergerie Trust, your responsibilities will include the following:
* Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings and any additional commitments.
* Policy development and implementation as required.
Desired Skills/Qualities required for this role:
* The candidate must have a background in Human Resource Management.
* Ideally based in the Munster region.
* Experience serving on not-for-profit Board of Directors or sub-committees is beneficial, but not essential.
* Have an understanding of and commitment to our mission and values.
* Have the time and commitment to fulfil the role.
* Commitment to the highest level of corporate governance.
Board Meetings:
There will be 12 board meetings per year, including the AGM. Meetings are held in Limerick, usually at 6.30pm in the evenings and last from 1.5-2 hours. Some board members join by VC. A full calendar of meeting dates is available upon request.
