Deputy Head of IT - €85-90K Leading European Multinational Insurance company requires a Deputy Head of IT to join the Team at their Dublin HQ.
The Deputy Head of IT will assist in all aspects of day-to-day organisational management, including deputising for the IT Director as and when necessary.
The ideal candidate MUST have a background in the insurance and/or life and pensions sector or with a bank/financial services company that also offers these products.
While the role is initially offered on an 18 Month FTC basis, there is a very high probability of the role being made permanent at the end of this period if not beforehand.

Attendance for this role will be on a Hybrid basis, with the successful candidate required to be onsite in the easily accessible Dublin City Centre office 2-3 days per week.
(Fully remote working is unfortunately not at an option for the foreseeable future).
Responsibilities of role The Deputy Head of IT will assist the IT Director in: * Leading and managing the IT function and team, including Software Development, Service Desk, Infrastructure, and Desktop Support, to effectively meet the needs of the organisation * Selecting and implementing suitable technologies to improve business operations using public cloud, private cloud or on-premises solutions as appropriate.
* Ensure the security of the entire information stack including hosting, network, servers and storage, backup, end user devices and applications.
* Selecting and managing appropriate IT suppliers and partners when required * Overseeing all aspects of infrastructure management (Including Cloud), and ensuring the optimal performance of same * Reviewing all back-up and disaster recovery procedures * Planning the implementation of new solutions * Providing guidance to the IT team, managed service partners and other staff within the organisation.
* Assisting in the preparation of annual budget for the IT department including equipment purchase, software procurement and staffing * Contributing to the Departments IT strategy and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
* Presenting reports on specific projects and general IT department activities to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders * Deputising for IT Director/As/when necessary Essential Candidate Requirements * Third level degree or diploma in Information technology, Computer Information Systems, or a relevant related field * ITIL Certification * Hold either Project or general management certification management certification (Though significant experience may suffice for this requirement) * Have spent a minimum of 5 years in a General Management or Service Support/delivery Role 3 that involved significant supervisory responsibilities * Experience of working with a wide range of technologies including Infrastructure, Networking, Software Development and Business/Data Analysis * Previous experience working in Financial Services organisation - Strong preference will be given to candidates with direct experience in the Insurance, Life and Pensions sector * Strong awareness of governance and regulatory obligations that apply to Financial Services organisations operating in Ireland and the Wider EU/EFTA * Working knowledge of ISO 27001 is required * Ability to lead and work with a small team of local IT experts to deliver both day to day and longer term project-based activities * Proven track record of successful Stakeholder management IMPORTANT - All applicants must have immediate availability to work in the EU as our client cannot provide any kind of Visa or Work Permit sponsorship at present.
