Senior Speech and Language Therapist
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a Community Care team in East Limerick and Ballina. The successful candidate will work with adults, providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties. As a Senior Therapist, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support to junior staff and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care.
Responsibilities of Senior Speech and Language Therapist
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties across all age groups.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment.
* Provide evidence-based interventions and therapies for a variety of speech and language disorders, including aphasia, dysphagia, speech sound disorders, language delays, and stuttering.
* Support patients and families in understanding speech and language conditions and empower them with tools for managing them.
* Supervise and mentor junior speech and language therapists, assistants, and students, providing clinical guidance and professional development support.
* Lead and contribute to team meetings, case discussions, and clinical audits.
* Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services within the team.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and social workers, to provide holistic care to patients.
* Participate in case conferences, care planning, and collaborative decision-making regarding patient care.
* Contribute to the development and enhancement of speech and language therapy services within the community setting.
* Identify areas for service improvement and assist in implementing new initiatives.
* Participate in audits and service evaluations to monitor outcomes and improve service delivery.
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential patient records in line with legal and professional requirements.
* Prepare reports and provide feedback to referral sources, ensuring comprehensive communication of patient progress and outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
* Hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and be a registered member of CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council).
* Minimum of three years post-graduate experience as a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Demonstrated experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a broad range of speech, language, and swallowing disorders in adults.
* Experience working in a community care or homecare setting is highly desirable.
* Proven leadership skills and experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff.
