Field Care Supervisor – Job Purpose
To undertake supervision, monitoring and field staff development recommendations appropriate to ensuring clients are cared for in a caring professional manner, with the best support care possible provided in line with the appropriate duties and responsibilities as outlined below.

Field Care Supervisor – The Role
Responsibility/Activity
* Develop and supervise a team of care workers to provide high quality care that is safe, effective and responsive to each client’s needs and preferences.
* Use standardised approach to supervision including completing and proper logging & filing of company Supervision Forms and National Carer Competency Assessment.
* Provide advice, training, supervision and other support to Care Workers and support supervisors as required.
* Support each client to live their life the way that they choose as far as they are able.
* Respect clients’ choices and promote their dignity and privacy at all times.
* Keep all information about clients and their families secure and confidential.
* Provide the client and, where appropriate, their representatives with information about the service so that they are clear about what to expect and how they can raise any concerns.
* Take part in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota as and when required. Effectively deal with emergency on-call issues, for example covering calls either directly or indirectly when Care Workers are sick or absent. Record emergency calls and pass the information to appropriate parties.
* Communicate clearly and build positive working relationships with people who use social care services and social and health care professionals.
* Work effectively with clients, their families and representatives, other social and health care professionals and managers and staff from Applewood Homecare to deliver high quality homecare services.
* Take part in staff and client meetings.
* Attend training activities, appraisals and development meetings.
* Willingness to work flexibly and to keep knowledge and skills up to date.
* Feedback to Care Manager and Administration team of changing client needs including what they would like to achieve from their care service and any changes regarding risk assessment.
* Promote a culture of respect, maintaining dignity and privacy. Agree appropriate risk control measures to reduce identified risks. Keep care and support plans up to date.
Work Well With Staff
* Give home support care workers appropriate information and guidance to effectively and safely provide care and support as agreed in the care and support plan.
* Work with the Care Manager to appropriately match care workers to clients. Attend the first call to introduce the care worker.
* Report changes to care schedules without delay to the coordinator, client and care worker.
* Plan & organise workloads effectively so clients receive the services that they expect.
* Continuous Quality improvement.
* Assist with investigations relating to the quality of the service and improvement actions.
* Monitor the performance of care workers and carry out quality reviews at the client’s home to make sure the service is being delivered in line with company procedures.
* Apply Applewood Homecare policies and procedures at all times and make sure accidents and incidents are recorded, reported and acted upon.
* Make sure that care and support is provided in line with regulatory requirements.

* Good administrative skills and computer literacy.
Key Skills & Qualifications
* Applicants require Manual & Patient Handling.
* Minimum qualifications required are Full Level 5 QQI Healthcare Award or Equivalent.
* L6 Supervision Module or min 2 yrs supervisory work experience preferable in home care setting to a wide variety of different client groups.
* Excellent English – Written and Spoken.
* Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with clients, their families and colleagues.
