Purpose of the role:
The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist will provide an appropriate and evidence-based clinical service to ambulatory gynaecology patients in the TUH catchment area.
Overview of role:
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop pathways between hospital and primary care for patient referrals and follow-up therapy.
* Conduct assessments, create individual treatment plans, and provide effective treatment to all referred patients.
* Maintain high standards of clinical practice and ensure patient privacy and dignity are respected.
* Liaise with patients, carers, and health professionals for a holistic approach to patient care.
* Maintain communication with Consultants, General Practitioners, and community care team members for early discharge and adequate follow-up.
* Plan and implement a care package from hospital to home.
* Stay updated with current changes in clinical practice through seminars and courses.
* Maintain accurate records to comply with legal requirements and support clinical studies.
* Participate in clinics, team meetings, and ward rounds as necessary.
* Engage in departmental training and teaching programs for health professionals.
* Supervise and teach junior staff, students, and ancillary staff in the specialty.
* Facilitate and supervise undergraduate research projects.
* Participate in multi-disciplinary and multi-centred trials.
* Attend mandatory training programs.
* Responsible for organizing and providing physiotherapy services for assigned patients.
* Conduct regular appraisals with staff.
* Advise management on planning and development of the specialty area.
* Ensure a safe working environment for patients and staff, reporting any accidents.
* Assist with the induction of junior staff to the department.
* Read and act upon all issued staff policies.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Physiotherapy Manager.
Qualifications & Experience required
Must have:
* Hold a Physiotherapy qualification recognized by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
* Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
* Have the clinical and administrative capacity to fulfill the functions of the role.
* Demonstrate evidence of formal continuing professional development relevant to the area of specialism.
* Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence and achievement in clinical audit, quality improvement, practice development, and teaching.
* Hold a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years in Pelvic Health.
* Experience in supervising junior physiotherapists and students.
* Maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapists Register at CORU.
* Must have a valid EU work permit/visa.
Desirable:
* Clinical MSc in Physiotherapy relevant to the post.
* First contact experience in an acute hospital setting.
* Experience in pessary management.
* Advanced Practice Physiotherapy training.
* Previous experience in research.
* On-call competence.

* Remuneration in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales.
* This post is part-time (17.5 hours), temporary, and pensionable.
* Annual leave entitlement is 29 working days per year for full-time positions, calculated pro-rata for part-time.
* Normal working hours are 35 over 5 days, with contracted hours liable to change to meet service requirements.
