Overview
The Shipping Manager will lead the shipping team, responsible for all outbound shipping, customs compliance, and operational effectiveness for Humanscale International. They will provide operational and technical expertise to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the department and establish strong stakeholder relationships with Operations, Production Scheduling, Customer Service, Supply Chain, and Sales. The role holder will also be responsible for building relationships with external transportation and logistics partners to ensure customer satisfaction and deliver maximum advantage to the business. They will play a vital role in ensuring full legal compliance within governmental customs rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for day-to-day management, coaching, and development of the Shipping Team.
2. Oversee the creation of appropriate outbound shipping schedules.
3. Provide timely and accurate communication of all shipping plans and schedules to all key stakeholders.
4. Lead the department in establishing, reviewing, documenting, and implementing or updating processes as needed.
5. Create and develop key commercial relationships with transportation partners.
6. Oversee all shipping quoting activities and the provision of cost pricing to customers and channel partners.
7. Responsible for day-to-day operational oversight of all outbound activities.
8. Responsible for all areas of regulatory export compliance as applicable.
9. Ensure identification of the most cost-effective and efficient shipping solutions for the organization.
10. Plan, develop, and execute shipping strategy.
11. Work with other business units to support growth agenda.
12. Develop transport strategies that take into consideration climate change and sustainability goals.
Qualifications
1. Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in international shipping.
2. Fully conversant with all aspects of domestic and international shipping, including haulage, air, and ocean freight.
3. Expert working knowledge of and extensive experience working with International Export documentation requirements.
4. Experience of continuous improvement solutions is desired.
5. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Experience of operating in EU, UK, Eastern European, Middle East, Asia, and African export markets.
8. Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing international shipping teams.
9. Ability to lead the creation of data-driven key performance indicator metrics and take appropriate action to drive and sustain service level targets.
10. Proven experience of identifying and implementing cost-effective, efficient shipping solutions for organizations.
11. Strong focus on compliance.
12. Strong focus on business improvements and financial management.
13. Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
14. Ability to work closely/in partnership with other key stakeholders in the achievement of business objectives.
