The EMEA Energy and Water team is looking for a Senior Water Engineer to influence and own onsite design standards and influence water chemistry and treatment, coordinating with design engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance for our global fleet of data centres. If you like to use both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches to define, design, detail, and document the various water treatment features that our facilities require, we’d like to meet you. Your work will provide on-site design to ensure safe drinking waters, water treatment plant process design for industrial, and discharge compliance with environmental regulators.

Key job responsibilities
1. You will take primary responsibility for the on-site design to ensure safe drinking waters, water treatment plant process design for industrial, and discharge compliance with environmental regulators.
2. You will be the single threaded owner for on-site water system design and ensuring that on-site design complies with national water law and environmental permitting conditions, inclusive of stormwater management and fire water retention.
3. You will provide high quality water treatment advice on a wide variety of projects while working with global Mechanical engineering teams to achieve alignment of water treatment systems objectives.
4. You will build and maintain the overall delivery program and project budget, submitting Capital Allocation Requests to Senior leadership to secure finance for project delivery.
5. You will prepare investment need/business case papers to secure internal funding for water reinforcement projects to secure water supply and discharges.
A day in the life
1. Work with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
2. Ensure that prior to PFHO the water systems have been disinfected to national and statutory requirements, water meters are installed, commissioned, and calibrated correctly, water treatment plant is commissioned and delivering required outputs (flow & quality).
3. Main maintain discharges below the discharge permit conditions.
4. Coordinating with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries.
5. Prepare early stage water related “Owners Requirements” documentation and work with Procurement teams to create a mechanism via RFQ for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) in the Specialist Water Contractor (SWC) scope.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Chemical/Process and/or Mechanical engineering degree a related field.
2. 10+ years additional qualifying experience, as well as 10+ years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry, related to water quality and chemical treatment.
3. Commensurate experience delivering water infrastructure and engineering solutions for capital-intensive projects across diversified industries.
4. 5+ years of demonstrated experience applying local water laws and codes, International Code Council (ICC) requirements, and other water treatment industry standards, procedures, and methodologies.
5. 5+ demonstrated years of experience with processes of design review, specification, development of design standards, and submittal review with ability to read and understand construction documents for all trades (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.).
6. 3+ years demonstrated experience with the health and safety requirements and ensure compliance is met within area of responsibility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. 15+ years of demonstrated experience as a process design engineer and/or water treatment specialist.
2. Technical experience of a range of treatment technologies including water softening, multi-media-filtration, pH correction, membrane-based treatment, disinfection (UV, AOP, Ozone).
3. Experience with performance-based alternatives to prescriptive water treatment design.
4. Advanced business analytics skills.
