We are currently totally refurbishing our Hotel and are looking forward to the launch of the new Grace Hotel early 2026. Job Summary
This role supports both the Maintenance Team and the Senior Gardener in the upkeep and development of the estate's grounds and native gardens. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining the estate's high standards, ensuring its grounds and gardens are beautifully presented and developed in line with the estate's vision. A successful candidate in this role will be able to drive heavy machinery and tractors through the estate and aid with fencing, laying pipes and working the grounds. The role will assist the Senior Gardener with working the grounds by propagating native plants and cutting hedges and any other roles that may be required.
To be able to complete horticulturally based maintenance activities including the cutting and trimming of grass, hedge cutting, pruning, and weed spraying.
Carrying out daily maintenance and safety checks on the allocated vehicle and equipment and reporting any defects. Ensuring trailers are attached safely and as instructed and comply with legal requirements.
Conduct all duties in a safe and proper manner, as defined in the Safe Working Practices, Risk Assessments and Specific Site Rules, that may apply.
Maintain Estate standards, policies and procedures.
Ensure preventative maintenance is completed throughout the Hotel and Estate.
You may be requested to help in other areas such as fencing and general maintenance.
Will have experience in:
* Operating tractor and attachments
* Farming experience
* Plumbing
* Grounds works, laying pipes, roadways, pathways
* Stone Masonry
* Health & Safety

Required Experience & Skills
* Must have CSCS training, manual handling and a safe pass certification.
* Full driving license B
* Experience of working in a similar horticultural environment.
* Must be physically fit, able to walk, bend and lift bags, bins and other dumped items, load, unload and carry and hold equipment whilst undertaking work.
* To be able to complete horticulturally based maintenance activities including the cutting and trimming of grass, hedge cutting, pruning, and weed spraying.
* Working outside all year round in all weathers.
* Broad knowledge and enthusiasm for native plants, planting design, and propagation.
* Self-motivated, physically fit, and detail oriented.
* High degree of awareness needed in respect of personal health and safety in relation to manual handling, sharps, dangerous materials and substances etc.
* Experience with plant propagation would be preferred.
* Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
* NPTC Chainsaw certificate
* Experienced mower driver
* Sensitivity towards the estate's historic and biodiverse elements.
