Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist (cCNS) in Immunology and Allergy
The purpose of this role is to deliver specialist nursing care in line with the five core concepts set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist posts, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery. This role has been developed to support a change for specialist practice to develop and meet service need and in line with National policy as set out by A Policy on the Development of Graduate to Advanced Nursing and Midwifery Practice.
This role will provide specialist nursing expertise in the management of patients with Immunological and allergy conditions. The successful candidate will commence the candidate programme as a cCNS grade to build on the academic and clinical experience required to be placed on the CNS register.
This role integrates with the existing Immunology and allergy multidisciplinary team to provide a focused out-patient driven service to patients diagnosed with Immunological conditions.
This addition to the Immunology service provides dedicated specialist care to patients in line with already well-established programmes internationally.
Required:
• Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais and Cnimhseachais na hireann or be eligible to be so registered.
• Have a minimum of 1 year post-registration full-time experience or an aggregate of 1 year full-time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made.
• Have a minimum of 1 year's experience or an aggregate of 1 year's full-time experience in the specialist area of Immunology and Allergy care within the last 3 years.
• Have successfully completed a post-registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider that verifies that the applicant has achieved a Quality and Qualifications Ireland major academic Level 9 award or higher that is relevant to the specialist area of care.
Alternatively, provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 standard, relevant to the specialist area of care and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery.
Desired:
• Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.
• Experience in carrying out audits.
