Reports to: Application/ Integration Architect and Project ManagerSalary:Appointment will be made on Grade IV (€34,256- €53,304) salary scale at a point in line with Government pay policy. Hours of work: Full-Time 35 Hours Per WeekClosing Date: 12 Noon on Friday 10th January, 2025. Position Summary: Over the next 12 months, Beaumont Hospital is embarking on a healthcare transformation program aimed at revolutionizing healthcare delivery throughout the hospital. The program will begin with the replacement of the Laboratory, Emergency Department, Patient Administration and Order Communications systems and associated downstream systems. By leveraging these applications, the program seeks to enhance patient outcomes, improve access to care, streamline operational processes, and facilitate collaboration across the hospital.We are seeking a dedicated and visionary team to transform healthcare delivery within our hospital. The delivery team will play a pivotal role in reimagining and implementing innovative processes to enhance patient outcomes, improve access to care, and optimise healthcare operations. The team will consist of highly motivated individuals formed from a combination of Clinicians, Nursing, HSCP, administration and ICT staff. POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking Integration and Application Support Engineers to join our team. In these roles, you will be involved in designing, implementing, and maintaining applications or integration solutions that enable seamless data exchange and interoperability across the hospitals healthcare systems and applications. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of healthcare IT standards, protocols, and data formats, along with technical expertise in integration technologies and platforms.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Integration Solution Design and Development:· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand integration requirements and design scalable and efficient solutions.· Develop data mapping, transformation, and routing specifications for healthcare data exchange.· Configure and customise integration tools and middleware to enable seamless interoperability between disparate systems.· Implement and test integration solutions, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations.System Integration and Interface Development:· Work closely with the HSE, internal teams, and external vendors to establish connectivity and interface protocols.· Develop and configure HL7 interfaces, APIs, web services, and other integration methods to enable real-time data exchange.· Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, working collaboratively with technical teams to ensure smooth system integration. Application Development:· Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, and test applications. · Assist in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans.· Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards. · Package and support deployment of releases. · Work with teammates in the migration of legacy applications to current business needs. · Develop, refine, and tune integrations between applications. · Analyse and resolve technical and application problems. Standards Compliance and Data Governance:· Ensure compliance with healthcare IT standards, such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM.· Implement data governance policies and procedures to maintain data integrity, security, and privacy.· Monitor and enforce data quality standards and best practices across integrated systems.· Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in healthcare integration technologies and standards.Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including healthcare providers, IT specialists, and business analysts, to gather integration requirements and ensure alignment with hospital goals.· Engage with external stakeholders, such as vendors and the HSE, to establish and maintain effective partnerships.· Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders regarding integration capabilities, limitations, and best practices.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Strong analytical skills are essential for this role. You must have the ability to analyze both the business and technical requirements and develop design solutions to meet those needs. You must demonstrate good communication to collaborate with other information systems specialists. Good problem-solving skills are essential to overcome issues during development. Qualifications
Selection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria. Mandatory: Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: (i) Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004. Or (ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including Mathematics and English or Irish1. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination. Or (iii) Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent examination in another jurisdiction Or (iv) Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland, (QQI). Note1 : Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level paper is not acceptable. Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme. The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria. and (b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the office. Age Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs. Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character. Desirable(a) Educational Background Bachelor's degree in computer science, healthcare informatics, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.(b) Experience 1 years’ experience as a support engineer, working on healthcare integration projects would be an advantage(c) Desirable Integration Skills Knowledge of healthcare IT standards, protocols, and data formats (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, etc.).Technical skills in integration technologies and platforms, such as Mirth Connect or similar.Knowledge in programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python) and scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, PowerShell).Experience with API development, web services, and RESTful interfaces.Familiarity with database systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle) and data transformation technologies Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on delivering robust and scalable integration solutions.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
