The Role & What You Will Be Doing
The purpose of this role is to support the Viatris commercial organization in the UK and Ireland by developing and executing a comprehensive market access strategy. This strategic position is crucial for ensuring optimal market access for the Viatris portfolio, enhancing patient access, and maximizing the impact of our life-changing therapies.
The Market Access Director role involves working cross-functionally on all aspects related to market access, including reimbursement, health technology assessment, and identifying market access and reimbursement opportunities. Responsibilities also include developing and implementing project plans to achieve market access, at optimal price, for new products or improve access for existing ones.
This position reports to the UK Country Manager and to Head of Market Access Europe, is a key member of the local Leadership Team as well as contributing to Regional Market Access Platforms.
Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here’s how the Director, Head of Market Access UK and Ireland role will make an impact:
1. Support the Country Manager and the Head of Commercial to identify new opportunities for the business, preparing the market conditions for the launch of new products and negotiating access to Viatris medicines in UK and Ireland.
2. Execution of HTA submissions, including adaptation of Regional (i.e. European) materials to local needs and presentation to local stakeholders in collaboration with other internal stakeholders.
3. Support new product launches by developing product-specific Market Access strategies and materials, generation of economic value data based on clinical and health economic evidence and outcomes research.
4. Responsible for the definition and communication of value to different stakeholders and determine their approaches to pricing, contracting, reimbursement, access, fulfillment, and patient affordability. In addition to bringing market access insights earlier into launch management process, establishing a pricing and contracting strategy as well as preparing if it´s required to preparing a Health Technology Assessment including Value Dossier to show the impact and the benefit of the different treatment for the patients.
5. Ensure alignment and cross-functional coordination with overall brand and key generic products strategy and build in flexibility to adapt to changes affecting customers, competition, and context (policy, economic, societal, technological), and make conscious trade-offs in pursuit of sustainable, profitable market access.
6. Work closely with European Market Access Team/Network to ensure input into the Regional and Global strategies to ensure UK and Irish payer requirements are adequately considered.
7. Development and maintenance of up-to-date relevant knowledge through participation in/following advisory boards, conferences, analysis, internal and external engagements as well as tracking of local P&R developments.
About Your Skills & Experience
For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
Education & Experience:
8. Master’s degree in health economics, life sciences, medicine, or equivalent.
9. Extensive experience in the Market Access space in the UK and Irish pharmaceutical market.
Technical Skills:
10. In-depth knowledge of the healthcare landscapes, market access landscape, HTA and financing mechanisms in UK and Ireland.
11. Proven experience navigating pricing, reimbursement, and HTA processes.
12. Experience leading P&R submissions and delivering strategies for innovative and value-added medicines.
13. Proficiency in health economic models and evidence.
14. In-depth understanding of HEOR, leading integrated projects with specialist teams.
Leadership:
15. Experience in leading market access workstreams across the product lifecycle.
16. Strong collaboration and leadership skills, managing integrated services teams.
17. Proven track record of achieving successful reimbursement decisions in UK and Ireland.
Additional Skills:
18. Strong communication, project management, organizational, and planning skills.
19. Ability to synthesize, interpret, and translate data into clear commercial strategies.
20. Strategic thinking, ability to prioritize, and manage complex business situations.
21. Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment, and high integrity.
22. Fluent in English; other languages are an advantage.
