Job Description
The Software Quality Lead will report to the Sr. Manager of Software Quality within the Supply Chain function and will support Motorola LMR Products and Services. This individual will be a “change agent” and will integrate quality checks throughout the development cycle of software tools and applications. This individual will be ensuring the development team integrates quality checks throughout the product development process. This role will also be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of processes and procedures used for improving the efficiency of quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1. Develop and implement quality metrics to monitor and improve software quality
2. Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, issues and areas of improvement
3. Collaborate with development teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and industry best practices
4. Utilize quality tools and methodologies, such as DMAIC to drive continuous improvement initiatives
5. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for identified defects
6. Document and report quality assurance activities and findings
7. Assessing the product team’s performance, capability, process gaps, and improvements areas
8. Develop, establish, and enforce quality assurance standards and measures within the organization, with an emphasis on frontloading quality efforts.
9. Collaboratively work with development teams to diagnose issues in software resulting from test validation discrepancies, contributing to the resolution.
10. Perform thorough software code review analysis to identify potential issues and improvements.
11. Support development of standards and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness.
12. Collaboration with product teams to continually improve their products and development process – provide support to identify lessons learned, develop true preventative actions, and track them to completion
13. Participating in planned internal and external audits and actively following up on findings until closure
14. Proficiency in Software Development Processes and Software Lifecycle Management: Including a deep understanding of entry and exit criteria
15. Experience in Software Coding and Code Review: Hands-on expertise in software development conducting or participating in structured code reviews
16. Competency in Data Analytics/Analysis Metrics & Technical Performance Measurements: Ability to create, analyze, and interpret software or system performance metrics.
17. Experience with Software Tools: Familiarity with tools such as Atlassian Suite (JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence), DOORS, SonarQube, and similar platforms used for software development and lifecycle management.
18. Collaborate with developers, business analyst and stakeholders to understand system requirements and acceptance criteria
19. Establish and enforce quality assurance standards, processes and best practices
20. Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure quality is built into the product
21. Utilize agile project management tools to track progress and document technical specifications
22. Stay abreast of emerging software quality assurance technologies and best practices
23. Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools and methodologies
24. Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions and technical discussions
25. Identify and resolve technical challenges and performance issues with software
Basic Requirements
Minimum Requirements
26. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
27. 5 Years of proven experience as a software QA Engineer
28. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, scrum and Agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
29. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt required
30. Working understanding of automated test scripts and frameworks using tools such as C#, Java Script, CSS/HTML, Typescript, and SQL
31. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and identify root causes
32. Excellent communication and collaboration skills
