Who We Are
KERRY PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION is a voluntary organisation committed to the delivery of life-enhancing services and supports, responding to the needs, wishes, and choices of people with an intellectual disability, connected to support networks in their communities. Kerry Parents and Friends Association was established in 1973 as a support to families of people with an intellectual disability. The Association provides community-based Day, Residential, and Support Services for more than 250 individuals.

Roster: Wk 1 Mon & Tues: 22:00 - 09:00 / Fri: 22:00 - 10:00

Post Two: Support Worker
Location: Tralee Residential Service
Roster: Wk 1 Wed & Thurs: 22:00 - 09:00
Wk 2 Mon & Tues: 22:00 - 09:00 / Fri: 22:00 - 10:00

The Role:

* The core activities for the post of Support Worker will include planning and setting goals with the person to assist them in meeting their personal, social, recreational, academic, independent living, community integration, training and supported employment needs.
* The Support Worker operates within the framework of a person-centred approach and actively engages with and promotes co-operation and partnership with other services, both internally and externally, and in particular with families.
* Along with supporting adults with an intellectual disability, the Support Worker will be required to complete all relevant reports and documentation. As well as teaching life skills, the Support Worker will work alongside other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support. Equivalent qualifications to Healthcare Support will be considered, with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience working with Adults with an Intellectual Disability.
* Applications will also be considered from candidates who have successfully completed at least 1 year of their Nursing or Social Care degree.
* Experience of working in a care delivery capacity, preferably within a disability service.
* A full driver's licence with access to a car insured for business purposes is essential.
* Where applicable, applicants must hold a valid Irish work permit.
