The Role
As an electrical engineer on our site, you will be one of our subject matter experts on all electrical matters. Your key responsibility will be to ensure that electrical standards are maintained and systems are designed, installed, and commissioned in line with national and plant standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage the site's electrical infrastructure to ensure it is reliable and robust for current and future needs.
* Project manage electrical projects on site and provide electrical expertise for multi-disciplined projects as required.
* Lead and/or support the design of instrument wiring, drawings, loop drawings, MCC schematics, and general service/lighting schematics.
* Maintain and update statutory periodical maintenance of all site electrical equipment, switchgear, and control gear.
* Develop electrical PMs for areas where they do not exist and expand existing PMs.
* Support electrical maintenance tasks such as thermographic surveys, LV and HV maintenance, PAT testing, etc.
* Develop and maintain site-wide electrical specifications and drawings to ensure they are up-to-date.
* Manage electrical contractors on site to ensure compliance with electrical specifications and deliverables.
* Maintain and upgrade electrical facilities systems such as lighting, UPS systems, small power, BMS system, Fire Alarm, door access control, CCTV, cable containment systems, earthing and lightning protection system, transformers, MV/LV panels, etc.
* Troubleshoot electrical-related process problems and equipment failures to determine root cause and implement repairs using lean tools and techniques.
* Coordinate with quality and EHS on matters requiring electrical expertise.
* Provide leadership and coaching to technicians and perform administrative tasks related to your role.
* Input into the site's maintenance system (SAP) to identify and address recurring issues.
* Develop critical spares lists for site electrical utilities and main MCC panels and ensure that critical spares are available at all times.
* Evaluate project designs and installations against EU directives such as ATEX and Machinery Directive and CE compliance requirements.
Your Background
We are looking for individuals who have successfully completed a minimum BEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and possess considerable experience in electrical engineering within a highly regulated industry such as FDA or GMP. Alternatively, candidates with equivalent experience in other highly-regulated industries will be considered.
* Candidate must have relevant qualifications and experience.
* Prior experience in electrical circuit design and HV/LV design and operation is required.
* Maintaining and managing electrical drawing records is essential.
* Experience within an ATEX environment is advantageous.
* Familiarity with planned preventative maintenance approaches and Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety awareness is necessary.
* In-depth knowledge of ATEX directives, ETCI wiring regulations, IEC, and EN standards is required.
* Management experience through project lifecycles, CE marking, and declaration of conformity reviews, and approvals is beneficial.
* Instrumentation and Automation/Controls experience is preferable.
