JOB PURPOSE: To oversee / maintain the care of Residents within the Nursing Home and to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the 56 bedded Nursing Home.
To ensure that all Company policies and procedures and all statutory requirements are adhered to within the defined timescales.
Location: Brentwood Manor Nursing Home, Convoy, Co. Donegal MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Care: 1.
Ensure all Staff Members contribute to the best of their ability towards the efficient operation of the Nursing Home and to the creation of an atmosphere conductive to the best interests of Residents.
2 .Interact with Residents to ensure that that their health care and social care needs are met and that a resolution to any problem is found.
Ongoing liaison with all external Health care disciplines regarding Residents care needs.
3.
Report in adherence with Company Policies and Procedures any ill-health amongst Residents and make requests for GP / Professional visits where necessary.
4.
Ensure meals are of sufficient quantity and good quality and that Residents dietary needs are met, liaise with Catering Manager to this end.
5.
Undertake general nursing work & personal care as appropriate.
6.
Administer prescribed medicines and maintain the necessary records as per NMBI guidelines and Company policies and procedures.
7.
Take responsibility for auditing Nursing documentation to ensure best practice.
Residents EPIC files should be systematically reviewed and signed off.

Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Residents' personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with Residents communication: 9.
Maintain effective communications with the Management Board and operate with a continuous improvement policy in relation to the process.

Maintain effective communications with Residents, Relatives and all others connected with the day to day operation of the Nursing Residents.

Maintain a report as the Person in Charge in relation Home and care of to all accidents and incidents and ensure the adherence by the Nursing Home.
Notify as appropriate to relevant authorities.

Supervise visits and liaise with GPs in order to establish a good relationship between GPs / Health Care Professionals and the Nursing Home.
13.
Ensure a clear and concise handover process is in operation and that a report is provided to all Staff Members.
It is the Managers responsibility that this process is carried out in a structured manner with full accountability defined.
14.
Arrange / participate in Staff and Client meetings.
15.
Establish and maintain relationships with residents that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
Budgetary / Financial Control: 1.
Manage, monitor and maintain budgets and where necessary take corrective action in conjunction with the Management Board.
2.
Ensure that all resources are employed efficiently and that staff operate on the principal of ensuring the Quality of Resident care through the use of resident focussed, smart, efficient work practices.
Human Resources (HR): 1.
Adhere to, and implement, all HR policies & procedures.
2.
Endeavour to fill any Staff vacancy in line with the Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Policy and with the support of the H.R.
Manager.
3.
In conjunction with the Administrator, maintain correct records of working hours of all Staff Members.
4.
Monitor and control sickness absence in line with Company policy (supported by the H.R.
Manager, where appropriate).
5.
Ensure all Staff Members are aware of Nursing Home policies and that all staff are monitored, reviewed and receive regular feedback in respect of the day to day operation of Organisational Policies and Procedures.
6.
Implement and manage the Companys Discipline policies and procedures, and Grievance policies and procedures (supported by the H.R.
Manager at all times).
7.
Provide formal supervision / appraisal of Staff Members in line with Company policy and with on-going informal assessment of the work of Staff Members, to ensure consistently high standards.
8.
Implement and initiate training for all Staff Members on an ongoing basis and in line with the regulations, best practice and company policies and procedures.
9.
Organise the workload by forward planning off duty to ensure that there is sufficient Staff cover and deal with problems where necessary.
10.
In the absence of the Administrator ensure continued collection of accurate data for Payroll purposes.
Marketing: 1.
Actively market the Nursing Home and promote a positive personal / professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the Nursing Home at all times.
2.
In conjunction with the Management Board endeavour to fill any Client vacancy by liaising with H.S.E.
and assessing/selecting suitable Residents.
(These places are to be offered within the normal terms of residency and the fee structure in operation within the Nursing Home at the time).
3.
Ensure the Nursing Home is attractively presented and odour free, at all times.
4.
Ensure a viewing room is suitably presented and available at all times (unless Nursing Home is fully occupied).
Training & Development: 1.
Supervise and instruct all Staff Members in all aspects of their work in the Nursing Home, giving help and guidance where appropriate and ensuring records are maintained and up-to-date.
2.
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
3.
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
Health & Safety: 1.
Report any illness of an infectious nature or any accident incurred by a Resident, colleague, self or another in line with regulations and Company Policies and Procedures.
Take responsibility for infection control.
2.
Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Nursing Homes Health & Safety policy, and Emergency & Fire procedures.
3.
Carry out duties as Chief Fire Officer for the Nursing Home in line with Health and Safety guidelines and our own Fire Management Programme.
4.
Report to the Maintenance Operative, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard and follow-up to ensure the necessary work has been completed and problems have been rectified.
5.
Promote safe working practice within the Nursing Home.
General: 1.
Adhere to all appropriate NMBI guidelines / regulations.
2.
Ensure that all existing stocks are maintained in a safe and tidy environment and reorder as and when required.
3.
Maintain such log books and records as may be required by both the Registering Authority and the Management Board.
4.
Be on-call, for emergencies, which may arise within the Nursing Home, and to cover shifts if other avenues have been exhausted.
5.
Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of work is not divulged to third parties.
6.
Assist in the arrangements and become knowledgeable in the area of accessing funds available to residents from Government/ outside agencies.
7.
Notify the H.R.
Manager as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
8.
Report directly to the Regional Director.
9.
Ensure the security of the Nursing Home is maintained at all times and review policies and procedures on a regular basis to 10.
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
11.
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
12.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS Required: Current N.M.B.I.
