Ward Catering Assistant - UPMC Aut Even

Overview of role:
Working on the patient wards of the Hospital, the ward catering assistant will work as part of a team carrying out the following duties:
1. Taking patient orders for daily meals ensuring varying dietary requirements are accurately recorded.
2. Prepare for and carry out the food service to patients throughout the day for various meals.
3. Clear patient bedrooms after meals and wash up of delph and plates.
4. Ensure patients' needs for light refreshments and water are met during the working day.
Working Hours: Normal shift pattern is 7.30am to 6.30pm. Weekends are worked in rotation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Accurate and reliable ordering to ensure patients receive exact dietary requirements.
* Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety, and food handling guidelines.
* Clean equipment and associated work areas in accordance with cleaning schedules using recommended detergents.
* Leave catering and service areas clean and hygienic at the end of the shift.
* Work effectively as part of a catering team to ensure high customer service standards.
* Minimize waste and improve waste reduction.
* Display a positive and welcoming demeanor with hospital patients.
* Assist with record keeping as directed by Catering Manager/Chef.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Previous experience working in food service is desirable.
* Any food catering or food service qualifications such as HACCP training or Cleanpass training will be positively considered.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
