Position: Innovation Broker (Agricultural Role)
The Organisation Animal Health Ireland is a not-for-profit, public-private partnership tasked with controlling livestock diseases not subject to international regulation, with the objective of improving the profitability and efficiency of Irish agriculture. This is achieved through the establishment of multiple Technical Working Groups and the delivery of its major programmes, overseen by cross-industry Implementation Groups.
Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support in several activities of the Pig Health Check (PHC) programme and will report directly to the PHC Programme Manager.
The main focus of the work will be on the TAILWARDS project, a collaboration between Teagasc, Animal Health Ireland and the Irish Farmers Association (IFA). The successful candidate will lead and work as an Innovation Broker for the PRRS eradication/control task and contribute to other tasks of the project, such as overstocking feedback.
This role requires arranging meetings, reviewing and updating materials, minute taking, developing reports, writing newsletters and articles for printing and social media, and providing technical information and support to veterinarians and farmers.
Candidate Requirements
1. Ability to work effectively and with flexibility as part of a team.
2. Competence in writing technical material and farm articles.
3. Knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft Office tools.
4. Excellent project management, analytical, report writing and data analysis skills.
Desirable attributes include:
1. Experience of the Irish pig industry.
2. Knowledge and experience of epidemiological concepts of disease control.
Education Requirements
Candidates should have a first or upper second-class honours degree or M.Sc. in an appropriate discipline (Veterinary Science, Animal or Agricultural Science or similar).
Candidates with a postgraduate qualification would have a significant advantage.
Selection Process
Candidates are required to submit a cover letter, including two referees and curriculum vitae, to Nuala Morgan at Animal Health Ireland.
Interviews will take place in the first week of April.

The AHI office is based in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim.
Contract Duration and Nature
A fixed-term contract of up to 3 years.
