Role Overview:
We are seeking a newly qualified accountant to join our Finance team. This is a permanent role that offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to accelerate their career development by being the number one in finance, taking on a varied workload and running the finance department in a young, vibrant, growing business. The role would be ideal for a self-starter looking for broad industry experience, and for someone looking to either enter the pensions and wealth management industry or advance their career in financial services.
Responsibilities:
1. Full responsibility for the production of accounts for two trading companies on Xero
2. Bank and credit card reconciliations
3. Collection and reconciliation of Life Company commission statements
4. Sending invoices to clients and taking payments
5. Own accounts payable and expense management versus budget
6. Preparation of monthly management accounts and annual budget
7. Ownership of cloud HR system and employee database
8. Prepare payroll inputs for external payroll provider
9. Preparation of VAT returns
10. AML information preparation as required
11. Work with the external CFO and Auditor on preparation of annual financial statements
12. Ad hoc duties as required
Skills & Experience:
1. Recently qualified accountant (industry or practice considered)
2. Experience with accounting software, preferably Xero, or equivalent
3. Able to produce monthly and annual accounts, and experience of ROS and the returns cycle (VAT, CT, Payroll taxes)
4. Strong attention to detail, and a self-starter who can be proactive as the number one in finance in the organisation
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
