Job Description:
Galway University Hospitals, comprising of University Hospital Galway (UHG) and Merlin Park University Hospital (MPUH), provide a comprehensive range of services to emergency and elective patients on an inpatient, outpatient and day care basis across the two sites.
GUH play a leadership role in acute service delivery providing regional services for a wide range of specialities and is also a designated supra regional centre for cancer and cardiac services serving a catchment area in the region of one million people along the West from Donegal to Tipperary North.
UHG is a Model 4 hospital providing 24/7 acute surgery, acute medicine, and critical care.
GUH is recognised for Higher Medical Training in all specialities.
This is a new post which will be part of the newly formed psycho-oncology service as per the NCCP psycho-oncology model of care.
University Hospital Galway (UHG) is one of the principal teaching hospitals in the west of Ireland and has been designated a NCCP national centre for cancer care. Treatment is offered through a multidisciplinary
team for a variety of diseases including malignancies of the brain, gastrointestinal system, head and
neck, breast, lung as well as genitourinary cancers. UHG Oncology service includes an
active day unit, dedicated inpatient beds, supported by a fully staffed medical team. This
service provides Oncology day-care and has a 24 hour 7 day a week on call service for complications.
