Grade Clinical Nurse Manager I (Services for Older Persons)
Contract Duration This is a specific purpose contrac t - 1 WTE post (37.5 hours per week) Essential Criteria:
Candidates for appointment must: Be registered on the General Register of Nurses as maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level AND Have the clinical, managerial and administrative experience to fulfil the role
Desirable Criteria:
Have a minimum of 2 years' post registration experience in care of the older person Have minimum of 1 year's post registration experience in the acute care setting.
Main Duties & Responsibilities (Post Summary) The CNM I will work in close collaboration with the CNM II in leading and supporting the ward based team that is committed to a philosophy of holistic care and interdisciplinary team working.
He/she supports the CNM II in the following: The management and co-ordination of the day-to-day running of the ward The supervision of evidence based care of the older person Manage change effectively, as required Ensuring that the needs of patients and their families are met within available resources Take an active role in service development, staff training and budgetary planning Acting as a role model for nursing staff within the department To facilitate good communication within the ward and the internal departments in the Service for Older People Participate in recruitment and selection of staff for the service, if required Deputise for the CNM II, as required, according to service needs Provide Hospital Management cover (bleep holding) and associated duties, as required Working with and delegating appropriately to Staff Nurses and Health Care Assistants.
