Location:
Clarin Services provides a combination of day and community based services to adults with varying support needs, based on personal outcome measures. Our services are all in small community houses, where we aim to create opportunities for the people we support to be valued citizens in their communities and to have everyday life experiences. Our focus is to form a partnership with the people we support and their families to ensure each individual live their best life.
We wish to recruit innovative, creative, visionary people who will relish the opportunity to assist in achieving this vision. Candidates need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individual’s they support on a daily basis.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
1. Candidates must have received a good general education.
2. A certificate in Food Hygiene /HACCP for Food Handlers training is an advantage. Alternatively a commitment to completing a Food Hygiene /HACCP for Food Handlers training course is required.
3. Candidates must have adequate training and experience to enable him/her to carry out satisfactorily the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability.
4. Candidates must be able to demonstrate domestic, household and food preparation and cooking skills.
Working Hours:
We are looking for someone seeking flexible for locum working hours to cover days on a Monday to Friday day roster. The maximum hours available will be 60 hours a fortnight. This can be made up of hours from Mon to Friday and/or, evenings or a combination of all to suit successful candidates.
Annual Leave:
hours per 100 hours worked.
Remuneration:
Department of Health Domestic salary scale - €30,541 x 8 increments - €36,619 pro rata per annum.
Tenure:
This post are temporary, part-time and pensionable on a specific purpose basis.
Probation:
A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to this post.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their approach and working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Specific Conditions
5. Staff must have and display a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability and help to ensure that they lead as normal and enjoyable a life as possible.
6. Staff must treat each person with an intellectual disability as an individual and at all times acknowledge and respect the rights and personal dignity of the person with an intellectual disability.
7. Staff are required to establish and maintain relationships with People Supported by the Services that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
Main duties and functions:
8. Operate within the Policies and Procedures of the Service in all aspects of your work.
9. Take overall responsibility of the housekeeping duties for the house/centre, being mindful at all times to respect the independence and abilities of the people we support.
10. Assist with food preparation and cooking as required including preparation of food for individuals who require special diets.
11. Ensure that the kitchen and utility areas are kept to a high standard of hygiene at all times.
12. Ensure that food and cleaning materials are stored in accordance with proper health and hygiene standards as appropriate.
13. Undertake housekeeping duties including dusting, cleaning of the buildings. This includes washing of floor, windows, walls, toilets, bathrooms, furniture and equipment.
14. Ensure microwaves, fridges; ovens etc. are cleaned regularly as required.
15. Ensure all fabrics such as curtains and blinds are hanging appropriately, and laundered as needed.
16. Sort linen for the laundry and operate internal laundry equipment implementing infection control procedures as required. Fold, iron, and put away laundry.
17. Exercise care, attention and vigilance towards equipment and property.
18. Be responsible for the purchase of all consumable goods and other goods, cleaning and washing materials, and record purchases promptly and accurately.
19. Ensure confidentiality is maintained in all matters.
20. Promote dignity at work and show respect to People Supported by the Services, colleagues and stakeholders in the course of duty.
21. Attend and participate in training as required by the service
22. Complete daily logs as required and requested
23. Comply with all national regulations and standards as set down by HIQA.
24. Be aware of and become familiar with fire drill procedures within the centre fire detection, evacuation and firefighting. To be conscious of Health & Safety matters in the workplace and, in particular, to comply with employees’ obligations as set out under Section 9 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005. Ensure that the procedures set out in the Safety Statement are implemented at all times.
25. Ensure that all accidents/incidents to people supported by the services, staff and visitors are reported to the senior staff on duty.
26. As the duties and responsibilities of any post in the Services are likely to change with the ongoing needs of the people supported by the services, age, level of disability etc. staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility, and a willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to their work to meet service needs.
27. Perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned to him/her by the Team Leader/Deputy. All duties must be carried out in person at all times.
