THE PROJECT
The company is a large multinational engineering consultancy that undertakes works in the highway and transportation areas.
The Project involves the provision of technical advice and other services to support the clients requirements in connection with electrical vehicle charging infrastructure (EVCI) and alternative fuels (AF) infrastructure.
These requirements are driven by the applicable national and EU regulations and good practice.
It also involves the provision of contract administration services under the core contract.
The services provided include:
* Providing electrical, civil and services preliminary design advice in relation to EVCI at the clients Motorway Service Areas (MSAs), including EV charging equipment, layouts, drainage, ducting, parking bays, access roads and footways;
* Preliminary assessments and scheme design of options available to the client in relation to EVCI installations and upgrades;
* Carrying out research into EVCI and AF technology and providing current and informed advice to the client;
* Studying of ESB Networks electricity grid capacity data to advise the client on potential electricity supply issues at their MSA sites;
* Promoting and monitoring energy optimisation initiatives with the operators of the clients MSAs and other sites.
Providing information in support of planning applications for EVCI installations and upgrades;
Administration and monitoring of service contracts including checking of key documentation deliverables and the carrying out of periodic audits and checks on existing tunnel and motorway service area facility systems and operations;
and Additional ad hoc advice as may be required in relation to the services provision.
THE ROLE
The role will primarily provide assistance to the Senior Technical Project Manager, as well as assistance with other tasks for the other core team members.
The individual will ideally have 5+ years experience, preferably in electrical power or energy engineering, or other relevant discipline for transportation systems.
Excellent written communication skills, proficiency in engineering design software and general office software are essential, and a good understanding of project management techniques would be helpful.
Some experience in a contract administration role, ideally in the highway, transportation or construction industries would be preferred.
They must be able to work effectively as part of a focussed team with tight delivery commitments, working with 3rd Parties, Clients and Internal Teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Project Engineer in day to day delivery of technical tasks relating to power, services and civils design input for optioneering and preliminary and scheme design for upgrading of EV Charging hub areas.
Carry out desk top research into EVCI and AF technology and assisting with compiling of reports.
Study of ESB Networks electricity grid capacity data to advise the client on potential electricity supply issues at their MSA sites.
Study of publications from various related bodies such as ESB Networks, Eir Grid, Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), Government departments.
Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI), European Union and others as necessary.
Assisting with the preparation of applications for electricity supply and discussion with ESB Networks in relation to programme and costs Support liaison with MSA operating companies.
Provide information in support of planning applications for EVCI installations and upgrades.
Assist in the day to day administration and monitoring of operations and maintenance service contracts including checking of key documentation deliverables and the carrying out of periodic audits and checks on existing tunnel and motorway service area facility systems and operations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
* A level eight qualification recognised by the National Framework of Qualifications/Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), or other equivalent qualification in electrical power or energy engineering, or other relevant discipline for transportation systems.
* 5 years post-graduate experience in working with infrastructural or energy projects.
* Ideally, the candidate would have experience working on electrical/mechanical systems projects and in the design and operation and maintenance of infrastructure facilities.
