Job Description: Laboratory Technician
We are pleased to invite applications for the position of Laboratory Technician in the Milk Testing Laboratory in Mallow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out chemical and microbiological testing.
* Perform tests as directed by the core milk schedule.
* Contribute to the effectiveness and improvement of the quality management system.
* Comply with the requirement of the ISO 17025 standard as defined by procedures.
* Complete all day-to-day activities as allocated by the laboratory manager/supervisor.
* Maintain test equipment to ensure its continuing fitness for purpose.
* Calibrate laboratory equipment and involve in the set-up, validation, and running of new laboratory equipment, including new techniques.
* Provide internal and external customers with a first-class level of service.
* Provide training to other laboratory personnel when required.
* Maintain the currency of all test logs.
* Receive check samples (non-payment) into the laboratory.
* Utilise IT technology and Dairygold systems to record results.
* Actively participate in continuous improvement activities, including 5 S implementation, auditing, work groups, PSE.
* Carry out internal audits of laboratory systems.
* Maintain Quality control charts to verify accuracy of testing/instrumentation.
* Maintain housekeeping levels within the laboratory.
Requirements:
* Recognised Science qualification.
* Experience in Food/Drinks/Pharmaceutical or Environmental Laboratory is desired.
* Experienced in Chemical and Microbiological analysis is desired but not essential.
* Computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Word, or other MS packages.
* Experience in working as part of a team.
* A positive, can-do, resilient, and flexible attitude.
* Understanding of Customer service.
